Alice-Miranda In Paris Gift Pack at Big W

Hello Friends,

I hope you’ve had a wonderful week.  I’ve been very busy at school – we’re going on camp and I can’t wait to tell you all about it when my new book, Alice-Miranda at Camp comes out on the 1st September.  But in the meantime I’ve just seen something I think is absolutely adorable.  It’s an Alice-Miranda In Paris gift box and inside there’s a book (of course) and some very special things that you can’t get anywhere else.  There’s a pencil, notepad, stickers and a gorgeous pink Eiffel Tower key ring.  I would love to use the little box to store some of my treasures.  There’s only one place in the whole world that you can buy it and that’s at BIG W.  The pack will be on sale in the shops from the 26th June but you can order it online now here

I think it would make a lovely present.  I might get one for Millie’s birthday.

I can’t wait to show you the new cover for Alice-Miranda At Camp too – which I should have very soon.

Have a wonderful weekend and to those of you who are starting school holidays, I hope you get to read lots of lovely books! Don’t forget to pop over to the events page and see if my best grown up friend, Jacqueline Harvey and I will be visiting near you soon.

Loads of love,

Alice-Miranda xxxx

    Hi there,

I’ve just included the link to the toy catalogue and also chatted with an online sales representative who told me that there is currently a glitch with the IT and you can’t click through to orders at the moment but that should be fixed soon. I’ll check back again later today and see. Hope it works!

    Best wishes,

Hi! I’m a big fan of the Alice-Miranda books, but I have a question.
In Alice-Miranda in Japan, Alice-Miranda says she is eight and a quarter, but Millie is still ten, even though she was ten in the first book and Alice-Miranda was seven and a quarter. And if I’m not mistaken, Jacinta is still eleven, not twelve.
Despite this, I love the books and the way they are written- especially the clever mysteries that drop small hints along the way!

    Hi Kiralee,

Thanks for your comment. I’ve just been scanning Alice-Miranda in Japan to see where it mentions the other girls ages and I can’t find it anywhere – I suppose I just assumed that the readers would realise like you have that they are getting older. If I have specifically mentioned their ages would you mind pointing me to those pages as I will need to amend in future editions. I’ve just been going over the page proofs for Alice-Miranda at Camp today as it goes to print at the end of the month and will be launched on the 1st of September. Hope you get to read that too.

    Best wishes,
    Jacqueline Harvey

    Dear Sienna

Thanks for your comment on the blog. I very much enjoyed my visit to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart at Randwick and it’s lovely that you and your friend, Rebekah found my talk funny and enjoyable. One of the things that I love most about my job as a full time author, is going to speak with and to the children who inspire me!

You will learn so much about Alice-Miranda and Clementine Rose by reading the books…and by subscribing to my Newsletter!

    Happy reading!

    Dear Rebekah

Thanks for your comment on the blog. I very much enjoyed my visit to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart at Randwick and it’s lovely that you and your friend, Sienna found my talk funny and enjoyable. One of the things that I love most about my job as a full time author, is going to speak with and to the children who inspire me! I still sometimes pinch myself, because I could never have imagined that my work would allow me to travel the world, meet fabulous people and fall in love with two adorable little girls and their fabulous friends!

The success of the Alice-Miranda and Clementine Rose has come about after many years of hard work. Whilst I always loved and had a knack for story-telling, it was, during almost twenty years as a teacher, that I realised the power that stories and plays had in entertaining and engaging children. It was my husband, Ian, who gave me the courage and focus to write my first story to be published- this was in 2003. The idea of the little girl, who would become Alice-Miranda Highton-Smith Kennington-Jones, came into my thoughts and heart in 2006- but the first book wasn’t published until 2010 after lots of work.

Even today, I find that I have 3000 words to write for the latest Alice-Miranda adventure and there are edits to be finalised for Alice-Miranda at Camp (to be released in September 2014) and Clementine Rose and the Ballet Break In (to be released in January next year), as well as lots of other things which full time authors need to do! Like so much in life, it really is about persistence, hard work and a little bit of good luck!

Make sure you sign up for my Newsletter…and hope you enjoy my stories too.

      Dear Jacqueline,

Thank you for replying back, when I saw that you replied I was flipping out! I love how you did such a big reply back to me my friend Sienna would be screaming right now if she saw that you replied back because she is another huge fan that would love seeing her hero replying back to her.

P.S I signed up for your news letter and I don’t know how I get the news letter so really I don’t know how signing up for the news letter works.

      Best of wishes!

Hi, I am a big fan of Alice-Miranda. I own all 9 books and also have the Alice-Miranda 2014 diary. May I ask, will Alice-Miranda be published as a movie in the future?

    Hi Vanessa,

At the moment Alice-Miranda has been optioned to be made into a television series. I’ve read the scripts for the first two episodes and I really love it. I can’t tell you how long it will take as that’s like asking how long is a piece of string and things in the world of television happen slowly but I am crossing my fingers that the project will get the necessary funding and go ahead. I’m so thrilled that you enjoy the books. Alice-Miranda at Camp will be out on the 1st September and I have already seen the 2015 Diary which is beautiful!

Keep watching the website and blogs and if you haven’t already done so, sign up for my newsletter to keep up to date on what’s happening with the television series and other Alice-Miranda news.

    Best wishes,
    Jacqueline

    Hi Georgie,

The only place you can get the gift pack is Big W so it might be best to call your local store and see if they still have them in stock. I’m not sure how well they’ve been selling but it would be worth a call. Hope you find one.

    Dear Charlotte,

Thanks for your lovely messages. I’m so pleased that you’re enjoying the books – and it’s not long now until Alice-Miranda At Camp will be released. At the moment I’m aware that the production company who have signed Alice-Miranda are looking at both animation and live action with a leaning towards live action if things all go well. Fingers crossed I have more news soon.

    Hi Alice,

You can’t actually buy any of the Alice-Miranda costumes yet but they are not too difficult to put together. When I send the next newsletter (it will probably be tomorrow as I’m away in New Zealand at the moment) you can get some ideas for costumes on there.

hi Jacqueline do you have any writing tips

September 8, 2014 at 4:21 pm

    Jacqueline Harvey

    Hi Jas,

I think one of the best tips is to be observant and pay attention to the things that go on around you. When you write, use all of your senses including your feelings. I always try to think about what’s happening through the eyes of my characters too. Most of all you need to write and re-write and practice to get better.

    Have a lovely weekend.
    Best wishes,
    Jacqueline

Well, if you read Alice-Miranda at Camp and In the Alps you might see they are getting closer and I love how sweet they are to each other. That’s an adorable idea about Jacinta’s mum finding someone special – she’s certainly changed a lot and deserves some love in her life 🙂

    Hello Olivia,

An early happy birthday for the 29th July! I’m not sure if they are still readily available but I would try some of the bigger shops like Dymocks – you might still be lucky. I’m so thrilled that you’re enjoying Alice-Miranda’s adventures.
