Alice-Miranda to the Rescue – four weekends of special events including a high tea!

January 23, 2016 by Jacqueline Harvey 84 Comments

Hi Everyone,

I’m so excited that Alice-Miranda to the Rescue is soon to be launched. It’s such a fun story – there’s a wedding, a dog show and some rather unusual new residents in the village – all causing chaos. Will Alice-Miranda and her friends be able to unravel everything that’s going on and save the day?

If you live in Sydney, I’d love to see you at one of the events we’re hosting to celebrate the release of the book. We are covering the northern suburbs, the eastern suburbs, the Shire and the city over the next four weekends including a fabulous event at The Tea Salon in Westfields in the city. Hope to see you soon.

Best wishes,

Jacqueline (and Alice-Miranda too of course!) xx

    HI Mrs Harvey!

I have been comparing alice miranda to the rescue to alice miranda at school, and i cant believe how much she has grown! NOt just in height!

And that puppy is soooo cute!!!

In alice miranda in china, who apart from jacinta and alice miranda are going to china?

and does lucas and jacintas relationship progress?

also, does caprice become better? i mean in the am in the alps, she was starting to be less of a whiny brat, but in am to the rescue in the first 39 pages, she has turned back to her old self!

and could u suggest some books for me to read? im eleven turning 12!

      Hi Alicia,

Yes Alice-Miranda has grown up a lot and the puppy is adorable. The whole gang is going to China and some of the teachers and parents too. Let’s just say that Lucas and Jacinta’s relationship is interesting in the next book. Caprice – no she’s not really improving a lot – she has her moments! Maybe you could try reading some of Belinda Murrell’s lovely timeslip adventures or you could try some of my old favourites like Hating Alison Ashley or Bridge To Terabithia. There are so many good books out there!

The new book sounds so exciting though I don’t live in Sydney so I wont be able to go to any of the events. I’m tempted to read the first 39 pages though I think I will save it untill I get it as a book! Good luck in the top 50 australias favourite author. I voted for you the other day!

    Dear Ms Harvey,
In the Clementine Rose series, is the secret of who her real mother is ever going to be revealed? Because I think I know who she is.
I think Clementine’s mother is Aunt Violet’s daughter Eliza and here’s why:

    1. In ‘Clementine Rose and the Movie Magic’ CR finds photos of a girl and she thinks they are of herself. Aunt Violet says they are of herself and CR noticed that they looked exactly the same. (I think they look the same because Aunt Violet’s daughter looked like Aunt Violet and Clementine looked like Eliza (Aunt Violets daughter) because Eliza was her real mother.)

    2. In ‘Clementine Rose and the Surprise Visitor’ the letter that came along with Clemmie and the basket of dinner rolls was signed with an ‘E’ at the bottom of the letter. (Maybe the ‘E’ is for Eliza?)

    3. In ‘Clementine Rose and the movie magic’ CR and Will creep into Aunt Violets room when she is sleeping and she talks in her sleep saying :’Eliza, would you be so kind to get Mummy a glass of water?’ So Eliza must be her daughter.

Thx for reading my long message!
    Lots of love and admiration,
    Denae. xxx
PS. I can’t wait to read CR and the special promise!!!!!
PPS. I also can’t wait for AM to the Rescue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just wanted to tell you my name if I lived in the world of Alice-Miranda and Clementine Rose.It would be Shari Zanette Iris Saffron-Sefton Yates.I actually generated it a couple of times to get the right one! I didn’t really like the one that said Shufflbottom in it so I generated it three times! I also wanted to ask, have you generated your name? And if you have, what is your name in the world of AM and CR???

      Hi Aiesha,

I’m still waiting to find out if I have any other public events on in Melbourne – there might be some bookshop signings but I am waiting for my publicist to confirm the last of the itinerary. I can’t speak on behalf of the schools about whether they would mind you going along – you would need to call them up and ask if that’s okay. I would be very happy to see you but it’s really up to them and their policies with visiting students. Which schools are you talking about? If you tell me then I can ask my publicist if she can talk to them too.

I have been very busy working on a new book.

          Hi Aiesha,

My advice first up would be to have your mother or father telephone the school and ask them if it is okay for you to come along to the event. As it is a private school they may have particular policies about that. As I mentioned to you earlier, I’m okay with it but it’s ultimately up to the school. It would be best if you asked them first. I will mention it to my publicist but she has already said that it would be much better if your parents made contact with the school first.

          Best wishes, Jacqueline

I would love it if you came to visit our school because my friends Annabella and Jennifer also love your books.

I also went to the shops today and saw some more of your books and wrote down the ones i would like to buy on a notepad. While I was there with my Dad we picked up picked your Alice Miranda mini magazine and enjoyed it very much. My Dad and I also decided to try and make the DIY minute Mousse. We just finished making it and would like to send the photos to you. please let me know the best way to send the photos to you.

Sadly, I have no plans to go to Bexley North Public School; but you can ask your teacher to make contact through the Teachers tab in the website. I have some public events in Sydney- keep an eye on the Events tab on the website – perhaps you, Annabella and Jennifer could come together.

Look forward to the photos of the Mousse- feel free to email them to me at jacqueline@jacquelineharvey.com.au. I may put them up on the Blog.

      Dear Isabel,

Thank you for writing. It was lots of fun working with your class on Wednesday. I’m glad that you found my talk interesting and I hope that you can use some of the ideas and concepts we talked about to improve your own writing. The complication in Alice-Miranda in China revolves around a man who has lost a lot of money to another man who’s a real bully – that’s the underlying problem but on the surface there are a lot more dilemmas. It’s about some bad guys blackmailing other good people into doing bad things!

I’d best get on with my writing now as I have to get the book finished in the next day or so.

      Best wishes,
      Jacqueline

better? I’m so excited to read Alice Miranda in China.I’ve ordered a signed copy from our literacy

      Hi Meg,

I’m afraid that the bags were part of the promotion for Alice-Miranda to the Rescue and we have very few left but I will keep some for competitions. I’m hoping to have more made later in the year.

      Best wishes,

Hi Jacqueline! I had a great birthday and I got lots of clothes, a calming couloring in book, and a bouncy 4 square ball. At school nearly everyone said ” happy birthday!”
I can’t believe I’m 9! I love your books, and when I finished reading Alice- Miranda to the rescue, all I could think about was that I wanted more! From Shari.

      Hi Shari,

I’m so pleased you had such a lovely birthday. I remember turning 9 and having a wonderful party and all my friends over. You won’t have to wait too long for the next book – Alice-Miranda in China will be out in September and Clementine Rose and the Paris Puzzle is coming in July.

Best wishes and thankyou for your kind words about the book,
      Jacqueline

      Hi Fatima

Thank you for your kind words-its is so humbling that the children who inspire me to write, enjoy reading the books as much as I enjoy writing them.

I will pass on your comments on the website to the very clever “webmasters”!

      Hi Helen,

I do remember you! Alice-Miranda in China (#14) will be out on the 1st September so not quite in time for your birthday. Clementine Rose and the Paris Puzzle is coming out on the 1st July. Perhaps you meant Alice-Miranda to the Rescue which is #13. It’s out now. I hope you have a wonderful birthday.

      Hi Anabel,

Alice-Miranda’s most recent birthday (her 9th) was a completely low key affair – she talks about having turned nine in Alice-Miranda in China. Perhaps we’ll have a huge celebration for her 10th!

      Best wishes,

    Hello, Mrs.Harvey!
I’m Haleema and I are such a HUGE fan of your books. I do recall one time when I met you in George Street when you were releasing Alice-Miranda at Camp. I have read every single one of your extraordinary books, and my favourite is Alice-Miranda in New York and Alice-Miranda takes the lead as such an amazing young girl changed lives of Miss.Hephzibah and Lucinda Finkelstein. You’re an amazing author. Seeing as what happened with Caprice in Alice-Miranda to the Rescue, I suppose that her character might change. After all, her life was saved by Millie in Zermatt, so I hope she changes. Grouchy Doerflinger has inspired the girl to be a bit grumpy. Alice-Miranda to the Rescue was WONDERFUL! You’re indeed an AMAZING author.
I look forward to your reply,
    Haleema Mangal.

      Hi Haleema,

I remember meeting you too. Thanks for your kind words. Caprice may just have met her match in Alice-Miranda in China – you’ll have to wait and see. I love your John Green quote.

Hi Mrs Harvey! I was just wondering how many books will be wrote about Alice-Miranda and if you are ever going to write another series of books? I hope you can keep writing forever! Do you have any writing tips on how to set out your stories and how to end? When I write my stories seem to just wonder off and don’t make any sense at all. You are an awesome writer, keep up the good work. Also I am not receiving the latest newsletters but really want to, because they’re awesome and keep me entertained! When will you be coming to penrith / blue mountains again because every time I have missed you!

      Hi Anabel,

I’m signed up to write 16 Alice-Miranda books but I am sure there will be more. Yes I am writing a new series but it won’t be out until late next year at the earliest. I’m still just getting started. When you write you need to make sure that your story has a really strong opening and builds to a big problem. The problem or trouble has to be big enough for the reader to care about and then when you end it, you need to feel as if there is a sense of finality. I have some writing tips on my website under the section for teachers. I’m not sure when I will get to the mountains again but it could be later this year. I’ll have a look and see why you’re not getting the newsletter – can you try and sign up again and I’ll check from this end too.

      Best wishes,
      Jacqueline

Dear Mrs Harvey, I was just wondering when the new Alice Miranda book is coming out and if you are going to have a high tea in Sydney to celebrate it. If you are when will that be and where. Thank you for your writing tips I can see why you are such a successful writer. How long have you been writing books now? How long did you work as a teacher? What was it like being at a boarding school? What is this months competition? I love you books and your detailed writing. You make me drift off and imagine being Alice Miranda, its awesome!!!!! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!! ; ) ; )

      Hi there Anabel

The new Alice-Miranda in China book will be released on 1 September! We have some very exciting plans for the launch, which we will announce on the website as soon as details are confirmed.

Thank you for your kind words. The positive feedback from the children who inspire me to write, is one of the many things I love about being a writer! I worked in Schools for over 20 years- 12 years of this as a classroom teacher. As a fulltime writer, I also enjoy the opportunity to visit Schools and conduct writing classes and workshops- so I suppose I have been teaching for a very long time.

Working in a Boarding School was fun; a bit different as not all of the girls go home every day. It’s a bit like a big sleepover party- the girls do their homework together, support each other in good times and bad and become like family. The Year 7 girls, where I worked, even raise guide dog puppies!

This month’s competition is about your best Alice-Miranda and Clementine Rose trivia – but you really should subscribe to the Newsletter, so you get all the updates.

      Best wishes

      Hi there,

Thank you for your lovely words! I am coming back to Melbourne again for the Writers’ Festival in August and will be appearing at the School Days Program on Tuesday 30 August. You can find details on my events tab on the website and it will take you to the bookings. I was actually just in Melbourne last week doing events in Geelong and in the city – I am sorry to have missed you. The best way to keep up with what’s happening is by signing up for the newsletter on the website if you haven’t already. I make sure and put all the places I will be on there.

      Hope to see you soon.

I love your books! The plot is so interesting and different for each book! I was wondering how many books in all are currently in the series and how many more are to come. Also if anything more will happen between Jacinta and Lucas, they are so adorable!

There are currently 15 books in the series with at least 3 more that I’m contracted to write. I can’t imagine ever stopping though – I love the character so much! Yes more to come with Lucas and Jacinta too.

      Best wishes,
      Jacqueline
