Audio Interview with Allison Tait (also known as A.L. Tait, author of the Mapmaker Chronicles)

September 6, 2017 by Jacqueline Harvey 22 Comments

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of chatting with Allison Tait, a fellow children’s author who has a regular podcast, called So You Want to Be a Writer, which she records with Valerie Khoo who is the Director of the Australian Writing Centre.

Allison writes great stories – The Mapmaker Chronicles, which are fabulous adventures. There’s a link to her website here.

It was lots of fun chatting about how I got my start as a writer, the way that I work – and all things writing.

If you’d like to listen you can click on the link here and select Episode 198.

I’ve heard of the Mapmaker chronicles, but I haven’t had a chance to read it. I will keep a lookout for that series.

    Thanks, Jacqueline Harvey.

      Hi Kanita,

I have lots of favourite singers, but, two particular fabulous artists would be Adele and Ed Sheeran. I went to a brilliant Adele concert earlier in the year and am hopeful of seeing Ed next year:).

      Best wishes,

      Jacqueline

    Hi Ms Harvey,

    Alison’s books look awesome!

Also I finished reading Alice Miranda in Hollywood. Another great book! Have you had any ideas for book 17? I think it would be really good if it included the new characters like Sasha and Blade. They are great new characters! Your Alice Miranda novels are always so exciting no matter where Alice Miranda travels! 🙂

      Hi Hattie,

I am writing more of Alice-Miranda and Clementine Rose (and I can’t imagine putting an end to either series as I still love my girls so much!). The next Clemmie will be mid 2018 though as I am concentrating on Kensy and Max at the moment. The first book in that series will be out 1 March 2018. Then there will be another Alice-Miranda then a Clemmie and then a second Kensy and Max.

Hope that answers your questions for now.

      Best wishes,
      Jacqueline

    Hi Jacqueline,

Its been a while since I have read Alice Miranda, with the last book I read being the one before Alice Miranda in China (it’s either Alice Miranda at the Palace or Alice Miranda at Camp).
The thing I wanted to know was, what are the ages of the children in Alice Miranda currently?

Jacinta, Lucas, Alice-Miranda, Millie, Sloane, Caprice, Sep etc.

    Also, does Caprice like Lucas?

    Thanks for reading,

    Laeni xx

      Hi Laeni,

So when Alice-Miranda first started at school she was 7 and a quarter. Millie was nearly 10. Jacinta was 11. So Jacinta is almost 14. Lucas and Sep are a little older. Millie is heading for 13 and AM is almost 10. I find it hard to keep up with them as they don’t really age a lot in each book.

Caprice – she’s tricky isn’t she. I’m not sure how she feels about Lucas. I think sometimes she just likes to cause trouble!

      Hope that answers your questions.

      Best wishes,
      Jacqueline
