Child Magazine Competition – win your name as a character in the 16th Alice-Miranda book! Entries close 28 February, 2017

February 4, 2017 by Jacqueline Harvey 21 Comments

In a writing competition like no other, along with my publisher Penguin Random House Australia we are offering CHILD Magazines readers the chance to write themselves into Alice-Miranda’s world!

TO ENTER: Write an exciting Alice-Miranda scene that you think her fans would love to read. Is there a mystery you would like Alice-Miranda to solve next? Adventures she and her friends might have? A new exotic location the pint-sized heroine could travel to? Her adventures are limited only by your imagination!

AND THE PRIZE? I will feature your name as a character in the next Alice-Miranda book! (number 16 in the series). The winning scene will be published on my website, JacquelineHarvey.com.au and a special Alice-Miranda prize pack will be sent your way.

Three runners-up will win a special signed copy of Alice-Miranda Holds the Key, the latest in the Alice-Miranda adventure series.

So get out your best stationery, put on your Alice-Miranda thinking cap (or whatever stylish hat you think she would wear), and start penning your plot.

Send your writing competition entry in the body of an email or via attachment to win@childmags.com.au with the subject line ‘Alice-Miranda’. Entries may also be posted to CHILD Magazines, PO Box 171, Beecroft NSW 2119.

ENTRIES CLOSE: 28 February 2017

Please do not send the entries to me – they need to go to CHILD magazine as per the details above.

This competition is only available to residents of Australia and New Zealand.

Good luck and hopefully I will be writing you as a character in the 16th Alice-Miranda adventure!

      Hi Halle,

If it still falls within the parameters of the competition I’m sure it will be fine. I haven’t seen the entries yet as they will initially be sorted out by the CHILD magazine team then passed onto me.

      Best wishes,
      Jacqueline

Hi Jacqueline. I just finished reading Alice Miranda holds the key. It was excellent!! I loved how I didn’t expect it to end. I’m in year 7 this year and I’ve been reading Alice Miranda since I was 7. I can never stop reading them. They are still my favourite books! A quick question. What is Book 16 going to be called and are we allowed to enter with someone else? My friend and I want to enter together. Will this be possible?
Also, we would love you to write about Alice Miranda in Greece!!
    From your biggest fan EVER.

      Hi Anastasia,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write to tell me how much you have enjoyed reading about Alice-Miranda’s adventures. It is both flattering and humbling.

Book 16 will be Alice-Miranda in Holllywood. I can certainly see a Greek adventure in Alice-Miranda’s future- you will just have to keep reading, won’t you 🙂

Sadly, the CHILD competition only allows for individuals to enter. Best of luck with it!

      Best wishes,

      Jacqueline

      Hi Emily,

The winner of the competition will be announced next week – there are just a few procedural things to finalise. Hasn’t it been a great idea, though?

      Good luck!

      Best wishes,

      Jacqueline

    Hi Jacqueline!
I missed out on the competition.I love your books so much and I want to be an author when I grow up. You said in on of the comments that the new book is called Alice-Miranda in Hollywood and that Millie will be getting a surprise, is that correct? I think I know what you mean by ‘getting a surprise’ and I’m really excited about it. I like how you’re really mysterious about book 16 but can you tell me a little bit more about it, please?

Your number on and biggest fan,
    Mandy

      Hi Mandy,

Thanks for your message. Alice-Miranda and a group of her friends go to Hollywood to be extras in one of her uncle’s movies. They start out filming on the backlot of Goldberg Studios but then they will head out on location to the Grand Canyon. The boy who has the lead child role is not a very good actor but he’s also the Executive Producer’s son – his name is Sasha – he wants to get out of it all but he doesn’t want to disappoint his dad. Lots of things go wrong on set and the movie looks like it might be a disaster. There’s a lot more to it but I’m afraid as I’m still working on it, you’ll have to be patient!

      Best wishes,
      Jacqueline

    Dear Jacqueline,
One more question, which book are you working on right now? You don’t have to tell me the name (but it would be a pleasure if you did) so just tell me the book number.
    lots of thanks,
    Mandy

      Hi Mandy,

I am currently working on Alice-Miranda in Hollywood – it’s going well but I have a really short deadline and about 30,000 more words to write in 3 weeks!

      Best wishes,
      Jacqueline

    Hi Ms Harvey!
I absolutely love your Alice-Miranda books! I finished the Alice-Miranda Holds the Key recently and I don’t know what to read! I started reading the first Alice-Miranda book again but then I moved onto Clementine Rose and the Ballet Break-in.
I know this is a lot to ask…but…is it ok if you write a book about Alice-Miranda going to South Korea. It will be absolutely interesting! She has already gone to China and Japan and Paris…I think…oh and New York…it will mean the world to me if she went to South Korea.
And one question: Where does Alice-Miranda live?

Thank you so much for reading 🙂
    Alice

      Hi Alice,

You know Alice-Miranda loves to travel so you never know if she might get to South Korea some day. I have never actually said which country she lives in – I leave that up to the readers to decide.

Thanks for your kind words. You won’t have to wait too long as I’m writing Alice-Miranda in Hollywood at the moment and it will be out in September.

      Best wishes,
      Jacqueline

        Dear Ms Harvey,
Thank you for this information! Alice-Miranda usually travels to places other than Australia so I kind think she lives here 😉
Hope this isn’t too much…but…as I mentioned South Korea before, I think that Alice-Miranda should go with Clementine Rose. They did meet in Clementine Rose 5 and Alice-Miranda 9 and it’ll be interesting as well.
Sorry I couldn’t enter the writing competition. I was out.

        Thank you for reading 🙂
        Alice

I love the idea of Alice-Miranda and Clemmie spending more time together and they do meet up again in Alice-Miranda Holds the Key.

          Best wishes,
          Jacqueline
