Dymocks High Tea launch Alice-Miranda at the Palace and Clementine Rose and the Ballet Break In

Bookings are now open for this fabulous event.  We are having a scrumptious high tea to launch Alice-Miranda At the Palace, the 11th book in the series and Clementine Rose and the Ballet Break In (number 8 in the series).  The Grand Ballroom at the Four Seasons hotel is one of the loveliest venues in Sydney and I can’t wait to join everyone on the 22nd February at 2pm.  Guests have the option to dress up (ball gowns or ballet gear) or just wear something lovely.  There will be prizes for the best dressed and various quizzes and games on the day.

You can click through to the Trybooking website to reserve your tickets.

After three and a half months away, writing and touring I can’t wait to get home and see everyone and celebrate the new books.  It’s hard to believe that Alice-Miranda At School turns five on the 1st of February.  Thanks to everyone for their incredible support – Alice-Miranda, Clementine Rose and I can’t say that enough!

With very best wishes,

Jacqueline Harvey (and the girls)

        Hi Kayla

I’m so pleased that you’re enjoying the books. It’s lovely to hear what the readers think. It’s a shame that you can’t make it to the high tea this weekend. It’s going to be amazing. It looks like we will have over 400 people coming along. I’m just delighted!

I would love to come to your St Ambrose Primary School- there’s a link on my website, in the Teachers tab, where your teacher or Librarian can request a School visit.

Alice-Miranda in the Alps is the title of the next of Alice-Miranda’s adventures. I’ve only just started actually writing, though lots of ideas have been swirling around in my head for awhile now. Release date is later this year- probably September 2015!

        Hope we meet someday too!

        Best wishes,

Jasmine

Dear Ms Harvey, Clementine and Alice-Miranda,
Congratulations on your 11th and 8th books! I have got them both and at the moment I am reading Alice-Miranda at the Palace. The 8th Clementine Rose book was excellent, and the Alice-Miranda one is really great, too.

Was it awful to have so much interference at your ballet concert, Clemmie? Or did you think it was good experience? You were very mature and brave, I think!

Well done, Ms Harvey, you are a great author.

Are you coming to Scotch Oakburn College? I really hope you can!

Yours,
Jasmine

    Hi Jasmine,

We’re all so pleased that you’re enjoying the new books. Clementine said to tell you that she was fine with what happened at the concert – she felt brave too. I do hope that I can get to Scotch Oakburn this year – it’s definitely on my list of places I’d love to go.

    Hope school has started well.

    Best wishes,

Summer

I can’t wait to read the new books. I love reading them in the shade at school at lunchtime in this hot weather. More fun than tip. I have read most of your books and my favourite so far is Alice Miranda at camp. I am looking forward to meeting you at the high tea.

    Hi Summer,

I’m so pleased that you’re enjoying the books. It’s lovely to hear what the readers think. I’d much rather read a book in the shade at lunchtime on a hot day than run around getting hot and sweaty too! Please make sure that you say you’re Summer who wrote on the blog when I meet you at the high tea. It’s going to be amazing. I heard on Thursday that there are 330 people coming so far – maybe we will get to 400!

I just bought two dresses this afternoon to choose from – one is black and cream lace and the other is all flowery print with a wide skirt. Not sure which I will wear but they’re both pretty.

    See you next Sunday.

    Best wishes,
    Jacqueline

Wow, thanks for your reply. I am so excited. I am wearing a white lace and brown silky dress, fancy shoes, my locket and a tiara. I can’t wait. My brother Sandy is coming too. He sometimes listens to the Alice Miranda books if mum reads them out loud.

    Hi Rachael,

I would love to come up to Tamworth. It’s a great town – I’ve been there a couple of times but quite a long while ago now. I’ll talk to my publicist and see what I can do. Hope you’re having a great weekend. It just rained here in Sydney. I’m sure that the farmers up your way would love us to send some rain there too.

Hi Ms Harvey, Alice-Miranda and Clementine,

The Alice-Miranda book was awesome. I’m planning on reading it again after I re-read Clementine Rose and the Treasure Box.
The Alice-Miranda book was really exciting and adventurous. My eyes were glued to the words, and I didn’t want to put the book down!

Alice-Miranda, you must of been quite frightened when you got trapped into the tower. I would of cried, I reckon. How is Boarding School going? I wish you could come down here to Launceston and come and live with me, or at least be my best friend. You too Clemmie. How is Caprice going?

How are you enjoying your ballet lessons, Clementine? Any more accidents? I hope not! Good luck for your next performance.

What wonderful two books, Ms Harvey, not to mention the rest of them!

-Jasmine

    Jacqueline Harvey

    Hi Jasmine,

I’m so pleased that you enjoyed the story. You are a wonderfully fast reader. I think Alice-Miranda was probably a little bit scared in the tower but she puts on a very brave face doesn’t she! I was a bit scared the first night I slept in the tower at Chatsworth (which looks just like the tower at Evesbury Palace). Alice-Miranda reports that boarding school is going well and she’s have a lovely term. I know she would love to visit Launceston. Clemmie would too. Millie reports that Caprice has been a bit better behaved since their adventure at the palace although she’s still very wary of her. Clementine is loving ballet but I’m afraid that there are some interesting times ahead for her. The next book is called Clementine Rose and the Movie Magic and after that it’s Clementine Rose and the Birthday Emergency. You’ll be in for some surprises there!

Thanks for your beautiful words Jasmine – I hope that I get to meet you soon.

    Best wishes,
    Jacqueline x

Hi Ms Harvey,

Thanks for replying. It’s an honour to be writing to an author who’s as great at writing as you are!

How is your writing going? I can’t wait until the next books come out! When is the twelfth Alice-Miranda adventure due to come out? In the meantime, I think I’ll be hunting for good books since there’s not much else around other than the Jacqueline Harvey books and The Lost World Circus.

Good luck writing your next stories.

Lola Rose

I really like how the illustrations in each book make Alice-Miranda seem older each time, but still like a girl!
I think she looks just like American Girl Doll Samantha, and Alice-Miranda would probably say that Samantha’s outfit is ‘delicious’!

February 16, 2015 at 8:08 am

    Jacqueline Harvey

    Hi Lola Rose

Wow, I just looked Samantha up on the internet and you’re right!!! There is a strong similarity and her outfit is ‘delicious’! Alice-Miranda’s appearance come from my imagination (and a few traits of some of the students I have taught over the years…) but the illustrations are done by some incredibly talented people who work with my wonderful publisher, Random House.

Hello, Jacqueline,

I finished the new “Clementine Rose and the Ballet Break-in” a few days after it was released!
I had lots of fun and enjoyed it very much.
My mummy makes funny voices for the characters. I like Aunt Violet’s, Clementine Rose’s and Mrs Bottomley’s voices the most! 🙂

I have a question about “Clementine Rose and the Famous Friend”.
I was wondering if Agnes Wells was a real author as I tried to look her up and got no results.
I loved the “Book Bug” poem at the end of the book and I was after more poems and stories like that.

Can’t wait to see you later today,
Lisa

Alice Teahart

Hi Jacqueline!
I am an avid reader of the books and I met you at the tea salon for Alice Miranda in Japan launch!
You told me there would probably be 12 books in te series and I am so sad that the series is coming to an end! I am 13 but i still love all of Alice Mirandas, Millie’s, Jacinta’s, Sloane’s, Lucas’ and Sep’s adventures so much! I was also wondering about the Alice Miranda tv series, is it animated or acted? And if acted what age are they casting Jacinta? I am an aspiring actor and couldnt think of a better role to play! It would make my day, no sorry- life, if i could audition for Jacinta! She is my favourite! Your writing is great Jacqueline, and it gives me so much joy! Alice Miranda at the palace is an amazinf story, congratulations!

    Hi Alice,

You can rest easy as I’ve signed on to write at least 14 Alice-Miranda books. I’m not sure if the television series will be real people or animation and it will depend a lot on who the production company partner with. Wouldn’t it be exciting to audition for a part – I’d love that too. I will keep you posted on any developments with the television series. These things take a while. I’m so thrilled that you loved Alice-Miranda at the Palace. I’m over half way through writing Alice-Miranda in the Alps at the moment – which I have to hurry up and get finished.

Thanks for your kind words – they really made me smile.

Dear Jacqueline Harvey,

I am one of those girls that are going into year 7 but still play alice miranda with there friends! In england i don’t think the 10th 11th or 12th book are out yet! i read somewhere that the first 2 were coming out but different websites say different things, i have finally screwed up enough courage to write to you on this blog! but i would just like to know when it will all come out in england? i love everything about the series and i am currently reading them to lola my sister as well as the clementine rose series. Which book do the two girls meet? Hi Mimi,

You’re never too old for Alice-Miranda. Some of my fans in Australia are teenagers (and I mean 16 and 17!). The girls meet in Clementine Rose and the Seaside Escape which has just come out in England. Alice-Miranda talks about them meeting in Alice-Miranda in Japan which has just come out too. They have published up to Book 9 in the UK in Alice-Miranda and Book 6 in Clementine Rose. Book 10 in Alice-Miranda will be out in January and then I hope they will sign up the rest. Clementine Rose Books 7 and 8 will be out in January too I think. I love all the things you love about the girls too. And yes Lucas is starting to like Jacinta back quite a bit. I’m coming to England at the end of September and doing lots of school talks and the most amazing High Tea in Rickmansworth at a place called Moor Park. I’m not sure where you live but if you’re in London perhaps you can talk your parents into bringing you along. The details are on my website under the events page – International.

Sorry it’s taken me a while to write back Batty but I’ve been on a really tough deadline to finish Alice-Miranda to the Rescue – I finished it last night at 10.30pm.

I have really loved reading your comment and I hope you keep reading Alice-Miranda and Clementine Rose’s adventures.

    Best wishes,
    Jacqueline x

    Hi Luca,

Thanks for writing. I love that you’re enjoying the books so much and sharing them with your friends. I’ve just finished the draft of Alice-Miranda to the Rescue which will be out in February next year and I am writing lots more after that. I’m heading to Tasmania on tour early next year – hopefully I will get to meet you then.

    Best wishes,

Hi Jacqueline,

I’ve met you before but I would love to meet you again. Can you please come to Willoughby public school this year or next year. Me and my friends love your books and have read all of the Alice Miranda books.

From Grace.

    Hi Grace,

I would love to come to your school. Perhaps you could ask your librarian to get in touch with me through the contact details on my website. My touring is usually planned quite a way ahead so best to get in early.

    Best wishes,
    Jacqueline
