A couple of weekends ago I participated in the inaugural Fitzroy Children’s Literature Festival at the spectacular Fitzroy Town Hall in Melbourne. During the day there were lots of events – from authors talking about their books and inspirations, to the fabulous Story Tent out the front where authors and illustrators entertained the children and their parents. There were so many talented creators there including our current Australian Children’s Laureate, Leigh Hobbs, Sally Rippin, Gabrielle Wang, Oliver Pommovanh and Hazel Edwards to name just a few. I was a bit sad that I missed most of them, as I was holed up in the gorgeous writing room conducting two workshops – the first for children in the morning and then another, in the afternoon for adults who are keen to write for children. I loved the enthusiasm of the participants and was thrilled with the quality of the writing I saw too. Well done to everyone who came along.
The day was superb – as was the weather. Huge congratulations to Emma and her team for a fabulous event. Ian and I took the opportunity to spend a lovely long weekend in Melbourne, celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary. We got to catch up with lots of friends and I still managed to add some more words to Alice-Miranda in Hollywood, so all up it was a great trip!
Awesome!!!
I thought so too.
I hope you had the most beautifully lovely day!!!
Best Wishes,
Your fan Ruhika
Thank you; hope that you did, too!
Best wishes,

I didn’t know you were making a Alice-Miranda in Hollywood! That’s so cool!
Hi Grace,
I am working on the structural editing of Alice-Miranda in Hollywood, which will be released in September this year. Sadly, there is no Alice-Miranda movie, at this stage- Alice-Miranda and her friends are on holidays and have the opportunity to play “extras’ on one of Lawrence Ridley’s movies:).
Best wishes,
Jacqueline
Do you think you will be coming to the Whitsunday Voices Literature Festival in July this year
Hi Ella,
I’m not on the program for Whitsunday Voices this year. Instead, I will be at Voices on the Coast which is on the Sunshine Coast.I know there are lots of fabulous people heading to Mackay for Whitsunday Voices – perhaps I’ll get to come next year :).
Best wishes,
Jacqueline
Ok may be next year
