Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to let readers know that I am on my way to the west next week. I’ll be in Albany for a special day of school visits and then I’ll be in Perth from Thursday to Saturday.  I’ll be visiting quite a few schools and also having two special public events which are listed on my events page. One is on Friday afternoon with Westbooks and the other Saturday afternoon at Boffins Bookshop. Please check the details – you can click on the links and I hope to see you there!

    Hello Jacqueline,
My name is Emily and I’m a massive fan of your Alice-Miranda books. I’m just wondering if there is going to be a 14th book in the AM series. If there is, could you please tell me what it is going to be about(name of book, setting, etc.). Like I said before, I am a massive fan of the Alice-Miranda series. It is by far my favourite series. I have all of the books (all 13) and I have read them all twice. I hope that there is many more books to come. I would be thrilled if you answer this message.

      Hi Emily,

I’m currently writing Alice-Miranda in China – it’s due out 1 September. After that I think she’s going to have an adventure back at home. There will definitely be more books to come. Thank you for your kind words – it’s lovely to know that you enjoy the stories so much.

      Best wishes,

      Hi Emily,

Yes there will be a 14th book – Alice-Miranda in China, which I am working on at the moment. It’s a really exciting story and there are lots of acrobats in the book – and sightseeing and fun places in Hong Kong and China as well as new characters. I hope that you’ll enjoy it. After that there will be at least two more books but I think there will be more than that.

Thank you for your kind words.

      Hello again Miss Harvey,
Thank you! Yes, our Eater is still a little way off. Not too too far away though, the first of May actually. But i’m still very excited for it. Lots of my friends at school have been bringing in chocolate eggs and bunnies but i am still waiting. But i think It’s worth the extra wait, Easter week is my favorite time of every year, i love the midnight feast we have and walking around the block with the candles at midnight with the epitaphio the night before that. Do you have any special Easter traditions? What’s your favorite celebration of the year?

lots of admiration and excitement, Maya

Hi,
I have a book expo at school and I have chosen this book Alice-Miranda in Paris and I need to make a speech and I have terrible stage fright and I can’t think of what do wright I HAVE NOT EVEN FINISHED THE BOOK YET!!!!!!
Soo I’m blank.

Kind regards,

    Hi Molly,
I always find it easier to stand up on stage if I know what I’m going to talk about. Seeing that your book expo is on next Tuesday, it might be the best idea to finish reading the book – you may then have more of idea on what to talk about.
    Best wishes and good luck,
    Jacqueline.

    Hi Sophie Rose,
Thanks for your message. I’m just about to put the final touches to Alice-Miranda in China. It has a really interesting story line that I’m pulling together all the twist and turns now. The book is released on 1 September 2016.
Clementine Rose and the Paris Puzzle is now being printed and it will be in bookshops on 1 July 2016.
    I hope you enjoy them.

    Hi Amy,
Alice-Miranda in China is released on 1 September 2016. But there’s a lot of work to be done before it’s in the bookshops. I’m pulling together the final story line now and it will be off to my editor in a week or so. It always takes a few months for editing, proof reading and printing. By the time it is in bookshops, I’ll almost be finished the next Alice-Miranda adventure.
    Best wishes,
    Jacqueline.

    Hi Isabella,
I met your dad outside Perth airport yesterday morning. He was on his way home to Brisbane and I had just arrived in Perth from Sydney. We were waiting for a bus to transfer to the other terminal. He told me you were a really keen reader. If you enjoy mysteries and adventures, you might like the Alice-Miranda stories. If you sign up for my newsletter, you can get all the news about where I will be travelling to in Australia and about books and there are competitions too. Maybe I’ll meet you somewhere one day too :). Have a great school holiday.

Hi I have been wondering since you came to my school when did you start writing books and is it hard to think what to write in the next xoxo

March 30, 2016 at 10:24 pm

    Jacqueline Harvey

    Hi Eliza,
My first book was published in 2003, but I was still working full-time as a Deputy Head of a school until 2012. I started writing Alice-Miranda in 2008, with the first Alice-Miranda book coming out in February 2010. I don’t have too many problems thinking up the plots to the stories – I feel Alice-Miranda is standing behind me telling me what to write!
    Best wishes,
    Jacqueline.

Hi Miss Harvey,
I’m only new to reading Alice-Miranda books. I’m enjoying the books so much. I’ve read lots of books, but I think Alice-Miranda is the best. I’m only up to chapter 32 in book 1. My Nanna gave it to me last week for Easter. I can’t wait to read more of her adventures.
Good luck writing.

I am just in the middle of reading AM shows the way for the fourth time … I love the books so much and always will, I don’t think there’s any chance of me “growing out of the books”.! I really can’t wait for the next AM book… from what you have said about it, it sounds really good and I can’t wait to discover the really cute Lucinta moments!!!!!!!
Thanks for the Easter wishes and I hope you had a great one too.

    Hi Hannah,

Unfortunately, we had a bit of a reschedule for Clemmie books for the year – so the next one is due 1 July. We had decided to do two Clementine books at the end of last year but the diary had already been printed saying there would be three.

Hi Jacqueline,
I am new to your website so this is my first time. I was just wondering if you are making an Alice-Maranda book 14? if so when is coming out? I love your books so much that I stoped reading another series to find out what happens in Alice-Miranda to the rescue! I was also wondering if you could write a Alice-Miranda book about them going to Henley Beach, Adelaide SA, and make some friends called Nauli Blossom Bluebell Middleton-Moat Snape. Elysia Carissa Iris Mickelson-Mcullah Lowther and Aliyah Jemma Marigold Mickelson-Mohr O’Shea. Those three are hippies and show Alice-Miranda, her friends, around. I know this may not happen but I would love for you to maybe have some of this information in one of your Alice-Miranda books? Any way, in short I LOVE how you write.
Thanks!
Bye for now!

    Hi Maryam,

You found one didn’t you? Hope so, otherwise let me know. I come up with mysteries a lot of the time by just asking myself, ‘What if?’ I have lots of strange ideas and I’m always on the lookout for interesting or weird or funny things that have happened in real life that I can use in a story too.

I finished reading all of them(except the AM to the rescue-it wasn’t out yet) when i was 9 and now i am reading them all again(i am ten). I wanted to ask when the new series will be out? I heard the main characters were going to be twins? And how are you going with your AM at china?

I really want it to be amazing so I am going to have to work super hard on it too. Yes there are twins. I haven’t finished AM in China yet but it’s close – about a week to go I think.

Hi Jacqueline,
don’t know if you got my comment on how I have recently finished Alice-Miranda to the Rescue, but I decided to double check. What I wrote was that you have now inspired me to become an author when I am older. I have written a few small novels in my spare time and have been loving it!!! So, you are my hero/idol and I LOVE YOUR WRITING SOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!! I am the girl who suggested that you write a book about Hippies at Henley. You are the best writer ever. I am now 12 and going to high school next year, my sister says that I will love English but what I want to know is if you enjoyed English in high school? Anyway, you are AWESOME and I will talk to you soon.
Bye for now 🙂

PS. I just wanted to know if you mind that I call you from your first name instead of Miss Harvey.

I wish I’d been able to talk to my writing idols when I was a child – perhaps I would have given things a go a lot sooner. I LOVED English when I was in high school. In fact, I found all of my high school reports on the weekend when I was doing a clear up of my study and I chuckled at the English comments – many of which said that I showed promise as a writer (who knew where that would lead!).

Keep up your writing – and my advice would be keep a look out for some competitions to enter – they’ll give you a focus.

    Best wishes,
Jacqueline (and yes it’s fine to call me that!)

Dear Ms Harvey,
On the 5th of April I attended your video conference. I was wondering if you had any advice for anyone who wants to become a writer?

    Hi Nuha,

One of the things you need to do is keep a notebook and write down all the funny, silly, interesting etc things you see as that will help you keep track of ideas. I would also enter competitions as that’s a great way to focus your work and make sure that you finish things. I have some writing tips on my website under the teachers tab.

    Best wishes with your goals,

    Jacqueline

Hi Jacqueline,
I was just wondering if you knew how long you were keeping on writing new Alice-Miranda books, or if you we’re waiting for a sign to stop. In one of your replies you said that you were coming to SA later in the year, I signed up for the newsletter but you haven’t said if you were coming to SA later in the year. I was also wondering if you were going somewhere unusual and different for future Alice-Miranda books?
How many series or single books have you written and could you tell me some of them so that I could look into finding a copy to read. One last thing, what are the age groups you write for, because I was curious to see if you had any higher levelled novels for me to read.
Thanks
Bye for now,
Lilly

    Hi Lilly,

I have always thought that Alice-Miranda would tell me when the time is right to stop. That might sound silly but I think if the thought of writing another adventure filled my heart with dread instead of joy then that might be the right time to have a break. But that isn’t how I feel yet so there will be many more books to come. After AM in China she is going to have an adventure at home but then after that, who knows. I’ve only written AM and Clementine Rose as well as another series called the Code Name series but they are harder to find these days and a picture book called The Sound of the Sea. I am writing a new series later this year.

    Best wishes,
    Jacqueline

Hello, dear Mrs.Harvey!
It is Haleema Mangal, and I am very pleased to make your acquaintance! You’re simply an amazing author. I was wondering if you’d like to come to my school? We have had an author visit before, but I’m sure your visit will hit the spotlight. My school is Al-Faisal College, Auburn Road, Auburn and I would LOVE if you came! It would be nice seeing you again and having my books signed.
I look forward to your reply,
Haleema Mangal.

Hi Miss Harvey. I was absolutely overjoyed when I discovered you had a blog, I’ve been a long-term fan of the Alice-Miranda series, and would you believe that I’m 15 going on 16 and still reading? I can’t imagine I’ll ever stop. I adored reading Alice-Miranda to the Rescue and I can hardly wait for Alice-Miranda in China, especially when I heard Jacinta would have a little part in it as well.

I have always felt a connection to Jacinta, she’s such a wonderful girl. I can really relate to how blunt and mischievous she is and my heart went out to her in the first few books. I still have the page from the first book bookmarked when Alice-Miranda said Jacinta wasn’t a bad girl, she was simply lonely, and I really love that moment. I can’t imagine being dropped off at a boarding school at the tender age of seven because my parents couldn’t care enough to take care of me. And then her having little to no friends until a child with cascading curls and a bright outlook just came up to her with a big smile and an open mind. All things considered, I think Jacinta turned out awesome. Gosh I love that girl 🙂

Goodness I went on a bit of a tangent there. Sorry about that. But truly, I really love the AM series and I don’t think I will ever stop reading it, even when I enter my twenties and my friends begin giving me weird looks due to my reading a children’s book aimed towards twelve year olds. Gosh. it’s not my fault you’re such a fabulous writer, making me connect to such realistic. fictional characters.

I wish you the best for the coming years, and I pray the books don’t stop at 16.

All the very best
Lucyana

(P.S. I knew from the minute Jacinta tripped over him in the field there was going to be a spark between them. I knew it, I knew it, I KNEW IT ^_^)
(P.P.S: I’m guessing I’m the thousandth Lucinta fan you’ve heard from, Miss Harvey :)).

    Hi Lucyana,

I love that you’re still reading the books – and you’re certainly not my oldest fan. I love Jacinta too and I think she’s turned out pretty well all things considered. She has quite a big role in China and Lucas is there too – although I have to say that she’s feeling a bit mixed up about him to start with. There is a big first in the story which I think is absolutely adorable. Please don’t feel as if you have to stop reading the books ever! I will write more than 16 that’s for sure. As the television series was officially announced last week, I hope the demand from readers will be even stronger.

Have you signed up for the newsletter too? It comes out once a month and I also send emails when I’m going to be touring.

Best wishes (and enjoy your upcoming holidays),

    Jacqueline

      Hi Ms Harvey

I promise you I won’t stop reading the books for a very long time, and I am also aware of Jacinta’s large part in the next book. How fitting that she and Alice-Miranda joined a family of acrobats 🙂 Uh-oh, a hiccup in the fledgling romance… Oh well, a romance can’t be without a few bumps along the way, I just know things will turn out well for them. I am so excited to hear you’re going to write more than 16! I think this series is my absolute favourite and I really hope the demand from readers gets stronger as well 🙂

Have I signed up for the newsletter? Darn, i can’t say that I have…. I’m going to go do that 🙂

Best wishes (and don’t worry, I will enjoy my holidays :))

      Lucyana

(P.S. Today a group of my dance friends went to a primary school to teach years 1 to 6 some dancing, and there was this part where we all went in a circle and sent some kids in to do tricks in the middle and this little nine year old girl fell into a huge line of backward tumbling ending with an absolutely amazing back tuck and wow, I was astounded. I frankly imagined Alice-Miranda and her friends in that circle dancing around and frankly having a most wonderful time :))
