Join in all the fun for the 2020 Australia Reads Campaign!

From 1 -12 November, all Australians are being encouraged to boost their reading habits! I am very proud to be one of the author ambassadors for this year’s event and have even written a special Kensy and Max book just for the campaign.

Anytime is a good time to read, but did you know there is a specific reading hour happening on Thursday 12 November? There are also some absolutely amazing FREE events you can join in with. On Monday 9 November there is one is specifically for kids and another for teens. The third event for the grown-ups is on Wednesday 11 November. For kids and teens, Australia Reads is teaming up with the Sydney Opera House – you can sign up for the events HERE or click on the yellow picture below! And did I mention they’re free and perfect for school groups all over Australia. But you need to register NOW!

Kensy and Max: SPY GAMES was written especially for Australia Reads and is available now for just $2.99 in all good bookshops. Hope you get to read it soon! There are three other fabulous books by the ambassadors too.

This sounds so interesting! I would love to read Spy Games!

I read Spy Games!
Even though it was only 92 pages and 9 chapters, I was still amazed at the amount of action and intrigue there was.
Once again, it was amazing.

Hi Ms. Harvey,

I have a question.
The 7th Kensy and Max is called Takedown right? Does that mean that Takedown is the last one of the Kensy and Max series??
(Please say no)

But other than that, I’m really excited about Takedown! Singapore is a great location to base a spy book on (in my opinion).

    Hi Sanuli,

Yes, Kensy and Max: Take Down is the 7th book in the series, however, it is not the last! It will be released on the 2nd of March (not much longer to go now!) Hope you enjoy the mystery and adventure in Singapore.

    Happy reading,

    Jacqueline 🙂

I honestly can’t believe that it’s been so many years since I started Alice-Miranda or since Kensy and Max was first mentioned on this blog. I’m almost fifteen now and I have to say that being brought up on books that are this well written, both in vocabulary and plot, has helped to shape me as a person. And although it is a bit strange to comment something like this on a post about an event in Sydney, I couldn’t help but get a bit emotional when I found this website again. And I’m sure you’ve heard this many times before but it never hurts to say thank you again. Thank you for continuing to do what you do best, teaching young people how to be better humans, better writers and even how to smile when no one else could.

    Hi Rena,

Thank you for your kind message! I’m thrilled to hear that you enjoy my books and have been reading my series for quite a while now. Hopefully, you can make it to one of my events in the near future I would love to chat and hear about your favourite parts of the Alice-Miranda series! I hope you enjoy reading Alice-Miranda in Egypt once it is released.

    Best wishes,

    Jacqueline 🙂

Hi Ms. Harvey,

I was wondering if you could put these quotes into the Kensy and Max series or any of your books (you don’t have to, of course):

1. Life is all about perspective. The sinking of the Titanic was a miracle to the lobsters in the ship’s kitchen.

2. Would you like you, if you met you?

3. Efforts are better than a promise.

4. The way I see it is that if you want a rainbow, you have to put up with the rain.

5. Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until they open their mouths.

6. I don’t have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

7. The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But it’s still on the list.

8. It’s ok if you hate me, not everyone has good taste.

9. I have lots of hidden talents, but they’re so hidden even I can’t find them!

10. When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, give life a thousand reasons to smile.

11. We feel things, but how many things do we understand?

Sorry, I got carried away there but I hope you like the quotes Ms. Harvey!

Best Wishes,
Sanuli 🙂

Those are really good, and I reckon Song would take great pleasure in using them!

January 8, 2021 at 8:58 am

And isn’t Spy Games only three dollars?

January 8, 2021 at 9:03 am

Yeah, it’s $2.50 on Amazon and a bit more expensive on Booktopia and Angus and Robertson.

    January 8, 2021 at 10:41 am

On the Amazon website ( I looked on the google search results before) the website says it’s $14.32. I think the website would be correct.

    January 9, 2021 at 9:39 am

But now it says it’s 2.50 again. Maybe ask Ms. Harvey.

      January 9, 2021 at 9:44 am

        WAIT… (again)
        OK, I found my answer.
The australian amazon is $2.50 and the international one or something is expensiver.

Also, I just read it and it’s really really good!!!

        January 11, 2021 at 8:55 pm

That’s good. Do you reckon you’d consider it part of the series or seperate, but with the same people?

January 8, 2021 at 11:01 am

I Love your books Jacqueline, and am super Thrilled to hear about this new one!

Hey there I was just wondering what’s happening with AM book 20? It’s been a while since 19 came out and I’m excited to know what it’s called.

January 23, 2021 at 11:11 pm

    Jacqueline Harvey

It’s on the way – I’m over half way written and have three weeks to get it done – hence I am writing a lot at the moment. Details soon 🙂

    January 26, 2021 at 12:14 pm

Question for K&M fans: Favourite ships?
I love Max and Autumn, but personally I can’t decide between Kensy and Carlos and Kensy and Curtis, though I would say Max definitely ships his sister with Curtis ♡

February 7, 2021 at 12:37 pm

Are any CLR books coming out soon? I love the series and I miss Aunt Violet!
btw, I’ve noticed that everyone comes in BFF pairings in the Alice-Miranda world: AM and Millie, Chessie and Sloane, Sep and Lucas, but Jacinta doesn’t seem to have a bestie? Speaking of Jacinta, can we learn a bit more about why she threw tantrums? We know Lucas got expelled for punching a bully, so he’s not demonized for it, but we’re sort of in the dark about her. Plus, in AM 6, Millie tells Jacinta that she’s changed loads so she can’t judge her mother (the leopards don’t change their spots bit) and Jacinta’s reply is, “That’s different.” Is there a backstory? Eh, that’s probably just my crazy brain. 🙂
I’m so sorry, I’m probably disturbing your writing. So I’ll just end with saying that I’m excited for your new books, and I wish you luck!

    Hi Hazel,

I’m not writing any more Clementine Rose books at the moment though I know how you feel. I miss Aunt Violet too. I am writing a new series that will come out next year and there are some pretty funny characters in there too. That’s interesting you’ve been thinking about all the pairings in AM. I think Jacinta is really good friends with AM and Millie and she also has Lucas. Jacinta threw lots of tantrums because bascially her parents had abandoned her at school and she had a terrible relationship with them. She felt extremely lonely – it comes out in the first few books. Jacinta’s mother does change hugely from when we first meet her to now. She was abandoned by her husband and then she woke up to what a terrible life she’d been leading. I love Ambrosia’s journey.

    Thanks for writing :).

i was wondering about caprice in the newest alice-miranda book. will she make an appearance, and if so, is she better behaved? she and millie simply won’t stop bothering each other and i’d love for them to finally make peace.

    Hi Sophia,

I’m afraid that you’ll just have to wait and see what happens between them. I can tell you it won’t all be smooth sailing but there could be some redemption for their relationship soon.

    Best wishes,

Hi Mrs. Harvey,
How do you write your books? By that, I mean what process do you go through in order to create one of your fabulous AM or Clemmie or Kensy and Max adventures?

– Kylie

February 23, 2021 at 3:34 pm

    Jacqueline Harvey

    Hi Kylie,

There are a lot of different stages from planning to getting my books published. I am always aware of my surroundings wherever I go and always on the lookout for inspiration. Once I have a general idea of where I want the book to be set and what characters are involved (the planning stage), I write the first draft and edit it, which is then sent to my editor, once the edited draft is returned to me it is time for me to make the final edits and take any feedback into consideration. The printing process is super cool and you can find the video of an Alice-Miranda book being made on my YouTube channel by searching ‘How an Alice-Miranda Book is Made’.

    Best wishes,

    Jacqueline 🙂

    February 27, 2021 at 6:20 pm

Ms Jaqueline, how do you come up with so many ideas! I can only just find the right amount of ideas ( usually 5) and you have sooo many!!!!

April 19, 2021 at 10:14 pm

I love all your books and have read every single one.
Question: are there going to be any other alice-miranda or kensy nd max books out soon

August 12, 2021 at 9:28 am

    Jacqueline Harvey

    Hi Zoe-laila,

Thank you for your kind words, I’m thrilled to hear that you love all the books I write!

There will be a new Kensy and Max (book 9) coming out on the 3rd of May. I will be taking a break from the Alice-Miranda series, but you never know what the future holds…

    Happy reading,
