May Competition – some answers to readers’ questions on vlogs on my You Tube channel
Hi Everyone,
I’ve had some challenges working out how to create video blogs (vlogs is the right terminology I think) to answer the top ten questions from the May Newsletter competition. But I think I’ve just about done it. I’ve uploaded ten short clips with the questions and answers – thank you to the hundreds of people who entered their question – there are so many fantastic ones that I will make sure I create some more videos soon and update the Q& A on my website as well. Because of file size limits I’ve linked the photo below to the first video on my You Tube channel (which I should use a lot more – along with Instagram, FB fanpage and Twitter – there’s so much to remember to keep up with!). To view the rest of the vlog posts you can either click here to link to my You Tube Channel or just click on my name under the first video that you watch and the rest will appear.
If you’re keen to enter this month’s competition you just need to subscribe to the newsletter – you can see how to do it on the home page of the website. I’ve just updated the events page on the website too – we are going all over the place in July to celebrate the launch of Clementine Rose and the Paris Puzzle so please have a look and see if I might be visiting somewhere near you soon. I’m also thrilled that we’re once again partnering with the beautiful Tea Salons in Sydney and Melbourne for some school holiday events. These book out super fast so don’t delay! Hope to see you somewhere soon.
Very best wishes,
Jacqueline Harvey x

Wow!
Thx
Can you tell us a bit about book 15 AM please.
Jacqueline Harvey
Hi there,
It’s still taking shape but I can tell you that Alice-Miranda is going to have to leave school a couple of weeks before the end of term and go home. There are lots of bad things happening with her father’s business but there’s also a garden party to plan and a rather ambitious new neighbour. Sorry I can’t be more specific but it’s going to be lots of fun!
Happy Sunday,
Jacqueline
Zowie
I have your new book called Alice-Miranda in China (first time reading your books) i,m reading most of my book in the car for 5and a half hours to go to Geelong (I better bring some sick bags)see ya.._
Jacqueline Harvey
Hi Zowie,
Hope you didn’t get sick in the car! I find it hard to read in cars but I’m okay on trains and planes. I really enjoyed writing that story and I am busy working on another one at the moment called Alice-Miranda Holds the Key. Have a great holiday. Geelong is lovely.
Best wishes,
Jacqueline
TAYLAH D
Hi Ms Harvey!
MY friend says that you live in America But I say that you live in Australia . WHICH one of us is correct?
P.S:My friend met you in real life and I am jealous of her because you are awesome!
PP.S:My friends name is Charlotte Poynton. Do you remember her?
GOODBYE❤❤❤❤
PPP.S, I AM EMOJI CRAZY!!!!!!!!
Jacqueline Harvey
Hi Taylah,
You are correct. I live in Sydney, Australia, but I do travel a lot so maybe that’s why Charlotte thought I lived in the US. I go to the UK the most, but I am about to build a house in Queenstown, New Zealand and will spend quite a bit of time there in the future (at least that’s the plan). Did you see that I’m going to have lots of signings and events in July – maybe one of them will be somewhere close to you and I could meet you too.
Have a great Sunday.
Best wishes,
Jacqueline

Hello,
I was wondering why you wanted to move to Queenstown? My friend Amy loves your books as much as I do and we read them in read to self together all the time. At snack and lunch we read your books to. Unfortunately I only have the first 2 of your alice miranda books.
goodbye!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS: I have just finished reading clementine rose and the movie magic this morning. I loved it. I couldn`t stop reading it for the last week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jacqueline Harvey
Hi Charlotte,
If you’ve ever been to New Zealand and to Queenstown you’ll know why I want to live there. The scenery is spectacular, the town of Queenstown is fabulous, there’s skiing and golf (my two favourite sports) and my husband and I love the climate. It’s cold in Winter and warmish in Summer and I’m not a big fan of hot weather.
Glad to hear you enjoyed Clemmie Movie Magic. I hope you get to read Paris Puzzle soon too.
Best wishes,
Jacqueline

Hi Mrs Harvey
I am Hayley and I am a HUGE Lucinta fan and I was wondering if you could write some balcony romance between them and I just love the AM series so keep writing them and I appreciate your work.
P.S could you please use my name in the book
From Your no.1 fan Hayley
Jacqueline Harvey
Hi Hayley
Thank you for your kind words. I am very much enjoying the intrigue, the characters and all of the relationships in the series- I’m sure that I will continue to write about Alice-Miranda and her friends for quite some time.
There has been a little awkwardness; some trouble in Lucinta paradise during the cultural exchange trip to China. I’m sure you will be happy with the outcome….

Hi Harriet
I will certainly be doing vlogs (apparently, that’s what people who know about these things call video blogs) again. We had a few technical difficulties- here is the link to my You Tube channel if you couldn’t access all of the answers. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCG0TuRh3XOWwjlG3x_tFHzg
I’d be really pleased to know what you think of this format?

Rosie
Hi Jacqueline,
I just wanted to say thank you so much for writing the extraordinary Alice-Miranda books. I have read Alice-Miranda from when the very first book came out and I still read them today even though I’m now fourteen! I own every single one of them published and I know i’m a lot older then most of your readers but I just want to let you know that Alice-Miranda has made a big impact on my life and I want to thank you for that. Whenever I’m sad I always read your books and they instantly make me happier. Whenever I’m in trouble I always think to myself “What would Alice-Miranda do?”. I wish, wish, wish that girls were actually as nice and accepting as Alice-Miranda and the rest of her friends are. Sometimes I wish that I could just disappear into one of her books and stay there as one of her friends for the rest of my life. I just can’t even find words to describe how much I love you books. I love the way they are modern tales but still have a hint of classic added to them too. I love the characters, the setting in a boarding school and the luxurious holidays and adventures they go on. I just love them so much that I could cry thank you so, so, so much for creating a world where I can escape to when things are bad. I never intend to stop reading them, even when I am old and wrinkly I will always be reading Alice-Miranda!
Lots of Love, Rosie xxx
Jacqueline Harvey
Hi Rosie,
I have to say you have just brought tears to my eyes. Thank you so much for your beautiful message – I can’t tell you how wonderful it makes me feel. I am working on Alice-Miranda’s 15th adventure at the moment and there are some pretty tense and emotional moments in the first few chapters (I have cried a bit just re-reading it and when I wrote it in the first place I needed a box of tissues beside me!). I adore writing the stories and Alice-Miranda and her friends are such a great bunch to spend time with. I know what you mean about wishing sometimes that you could be swallowed up into the book and stay there – wouldn’t that be fun! It’s lovely to know that you’re going to read Alice-Miranda even when you’re old! I’m not sure if we’ve met before but perhaps I will meet you when I’m in Melbourne one of these days. You’d be surprised how many older girls come to the events. I’m having a high tea at the Tea Salon in the Emporium in the next holidays – they’re always fun.
Have a wonderful weekend and thank you for taking the time to write and making me feel so happy and blessed to have gorgeous readers like you.
Love,
Jacqueline xxx
Sarah
Hello Jaqueline,
My name’s Sarah ganon and I’m a big fan of your Alice-Miranda series. If I wanted to describe what I look like I guess you could very closely compare me with Millie. I am in the middle of year 7 and Alice-Miranda had been an ongoing source of comfort for me, I do always have quite a few books on the go and school can be quite stressful. I have been reading Alice-Miranda since I was 9 and love it when I’m having a bad day I pick it up and I’m enveloped I the story. I have often said that reading Alice Miranda is like you gain a friend on the other side of the world, she is a charming positive character and when I’m facing a nerve racking situation it’s hard not to imagine Alice-Miranda holding my hand every step of the way. I love all the characters in Downsfordale and in the school, Myrtle Parker is a favorite and Millie’s attitude towards her. ‘Put out an ABC!’ is something I’m constantly saying. All my friends love the series too and can’t wait for the next one to come out! How did you create Alice Miranda, were you like her when you were younger? Your books are at the front of my bookshelf, with space for many more. I will never stop reading them.
Please never stop writing the series,
Sarah
Jacqueline Harvey
Hi Sarah
Thank you so much for your kind words- I agree that there are times when it is wonderful to be able to immerse yourself and disappear into the pages of a book and just “be”. I am so flattered that you feel that way about the Alice-Miranda stories.
I am still very much enjoying the characters, the intrigue and all of the relationships in the series- I’m sure that you will be reading about Alice-Miranda and her friends adventures for quite some time. Did you know that I recently answered some really good questions from readers on a vlog (video blog)? https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCG0TuRh3XOWwjlG3x_tFHzg
One of the vlogs answers your really good question!

India
Hi Ms Harvey
I was just wondering when you are going to write your new series about the twins?
I love reading your Alice Miranda books and especially the Lucinta moments 🙂 and for Alice Miranda 16 she could go to somewhere in NZ!
Thank you
India
Jacqueline Harvey
Hi India
I must admit that I have been doing lots of planning and jotting down ideas on the new series, but the edits on Alice-Miranda in China and the writing of Alice-Miranda 15 (as yet untitled), have been a priority. The very exciting news on the television series had been both a priority and a distraction!
I am pleased that you are enjoying the books; as New Zealand is one of my favourite places in the world (did you know that my husband and I are building a house near Queenstown), I can certainly see Alice-Miranda and her friends travelling there.
Best wishes
Jacqueline
Hayley
Thank you so much for replying to me but you still didn’t say anything about using my name in the book. I am reading the Malory towers series until the next book comes out.
Jacqueline Harvey
Hi Hayley
You never know when or if your name may be used in a book! As I’m sure you understand, there are no guarantees….
Best wishes
Jacqueline
Maella
Hi Jacqueline,
I just wanted to let you know that Alice Miranda books are my absolute favourite books. Even though they are probably targeted for a much younger audience, I love reading them and I wait in anticipation for the next books to come out.
Getting an Alice Miranda book as my birthday present instantly brightens up my birthday, and I normally start reading the book as soon as I can.
I began reading the Alice Miranda series when I was 8 and I am still reading them and I still love them now that I am in Year 8. They have helped me feel better when I am sad, as I often re-read and then re-read the series again. Whenever I’m in a tricky situation at home or at school, I always know that Alice Miranda would know what to do, and I always try to copy what she might do. As soon as I get any spare time, I instantly check my inbox for the monthly newsletter and if the newsletter hasn’t come, I go onto the website and check all the blog posts. I am particularly excited that Alice Miranda is going to be on TV!
I really enjoy reading your writing style, because when I read Alice Miranda stories, I get lost in the book and I can dream about them for many nights afterwards. I hope that there will be many more Alice Miranda books to come, because they are my favourite books ever. Perhaps you could use my name in a book?
Jacqueline Harvey
Hi Maella,
Thank you for your beautiful words about Alice-Miranda. It’s such a privilege to do what I do. I’m glad that you’re still reading the stories and believe me, you’re not the oldest fan by a long way. I’ve got 17-year-olds who still love the books and have grown up with AM and her friends. I love that you ask ‘what would Alice-Miranda do?’ I do that too when I’m feeling a bit challenged or down about something. I’m excited about the television series too. You have a lovely name – you never know about whether it could turn up in a book.
Best wishes,
Jacqueline
Matilda Duncan
Hi Jacqueline

Thank you for your kind words! I hope you get to read the rest of the series.

Sais
I love your books. I was wondering in which book jacinta gets her nickname lucinta. I hope you can keep on writing the books until jacinta and lucas get married. Alice miranda is a big influence on my day to day life. I try to be like her. I was just wondering if you are going to write an a
Alice miranda in India, because in a lot of the first books you mentioned alice miranda meeting with an indian prince. I would love for you to write about that as i
am Indian and i would love to read about her adventures in India.
Urvee
Dear Jacqueline,
It is almost the Book Week Parade at my school. I want to be Queen Gorgiana but I’m not sure what I should wear. Do you know what I should wear?
From Urvee
P.S.You are the BEST!xxxooo
Jacqueline Harvey
Hi Urvee,
Queen Georgiana would be lots of fun to dress up as. You could have a long dress and gloves and a tiara and make sure you have a handbag too. You have to look regal (she is a queen) but you could have some fun with it too.
I hope you’ll enter the dress up competition in the August newsletter when it comes out – I can’t wait to see your outfit.
Best wishes,
Jacqueline
Urvee
Hi,
Thanks a lot for the advice! I’m really excited now that I know what to wear. Thanks a tonne!

From Amelia
Jacqueline Harvey
Hi Millie,
Thank you for your enthusiasm and kind words! It is just so humbling, that the children who inspire me to write, enjoy reading the stories as much as I enjoy writing them. Alice-Miranda 15- now titled Alice-Miranda Holds the Key will be released on or around 3 February 2017.
There is exciting news on the media front- a production company called SLR Productions has “commenced development” on the Alice Miranda animated TV series- for release in 2018! It would be lovely if a Alice Miranda or Clementine Rose movie eventuated, but, we will just have to wait and see. I am so delighted about the television series- it’s like a dream come true.
Did you know that there is a new book coming out shortly, called Dog Stories, in which I have written a short story titled “Suzie the Wonderdog”? I thought, perhaps, you and Pumpkin might enjoy reading it:)!
Best wishes,
Jacqueline
