My first appearance on breakfast television. Hello Weekend Today!

My first appearance on breakfast television. Hello Weekend Today!

This morning I set off very nervously to the Channel Nine Studios in Willoughby to do a short segment talking about ways we can get kids reading. In conjunction with Penguin Random House, News Corp has come up with a fabulous campaign called Raise a Reader. They’re offering all manner of tips and advice in their newspapers to get kids reading and reverse a worrying trend that has seen reading levels falling. Tomorrow they’re offering a free Roald Dahl book with the News Corp papers (The Herald Sun, Courier Mail, Sunday Telegraph etc around Australia). You can also get a nifty little carry bag and collect another 13 books over the coming weeks for the fabulous price of $2.60 per book. So, all up you can get 14 books for less than $35.00. Roald Dahl is one of my favourite children’s authors and a huge inspiration to me. You might remember that I took part in Roald Dahl Day last year in Melbourne to celebrate the centenary of his birth and then only a month later I got to visit the Roald Dahl Museum in Great Missenden in England. I thought I’d share some snaps of my morning adventure in the makeup room and on set and you can watch the clip too by clicking on the link below.

It was lots of fun seeing behind the scenes of the Today Show and I have to say that every single person I met, from the security guard on the gate to the receptionist, the meet and greet producer, the hair and makeup team, the crew and the on-air presenters, Deborah Knight, Tom Steinfort and Jayne Azzopardi, was so lovely – they really helped calm my nerves and in the end I only wished it had gone for longer! You can watch the clip HERE

It was lots of fun and yes, I was a bit nervous, especially on Today as it was my first time on live television. But everyone was so lovely and I’d do it again in a heartbeat!

Hi Jacqueline! My name is Sienna and I’m a big fan of Alice Miranda! I want to suggest some ideas for a new Alice Miranda. How about she goes To Australia! That would be cool to see her in places I have been and where I live
      Thanks for reading!
      From Sienna 🙂

        Hi Sienna,

The idea that Alice-Miranda and her friends might travel to somewhere in Australia has been swirling around in my head for quite some time; helped along by lots of suggestions from the lovely fans. We are so lucky in this country- there are so many amazing places and sights; the challenge will be thinking about which location to choose- you will have to keep reading, won’t you:).

        Best wishes,

    Hi there,

I am so excited about Kensy and Max – the story is really coming together and I am falling in love with the characters. I’m about 10,000 words from the end which sounds like a lot but in my world isn’t really. We have also got some cover art which is looking fabulous. I can’t wait to share it!

    Best wishes,
    Jacqueline
