New Books, a book signing and upcoming events

May 2, 2014 by Jacqueline Harvey 76 Comments

Hello Friends,
Alice-Miranda-7-in-Paris-Australia-1I hope you’ve had a great week.  It’s been a very exciting one for me and my best grownup friend Jacqueline Harvey.  Alice-Miranda in Paris has been shortlisted for two awards! The Australian Book Industry Awards (ABIAs) and the REAL awards which act as the shortlist for the YABBAs, KOALA, COOL and KROC awards.

The ABIAs are voted on by people who work in the book industry like booksellers and publishers and the the REAL awards are voted by children just like you from Victoria, NSW, the ACT and the Northern Territory.

It’s a huge honour to know that there are lots of people reading and enjoying my adventures.  You can ask your teachers and librarians how to cast your vote!

Jacqueline has been super busy finishing a new Clementine Rose story which is called Clementine Rose and the Famous Friend. It’s the seventh of Clemmie’s adventures and will be out in October this year.

Clementine_Rose_Seaside_Escape_300pxIn the meantime we can show you the cover of the next book, Clementine Rose and the Treasure Box which will be out on the 1st of July.  I think it’s so pretty.

Next Saturday, the 10th May Jacqueline Harvey is going to be signing books at Book Review at St Ives Village Shopping Centre from 11am.

You can come along and have your Clementine Rose and Alice-Miranda books signed – remember the latest Clementine adventure is Clementine Rose and the Seaside Escape and my latest adventure is Alice-Miranda in Japan.  Jacqueline will be there with bookmarks and posters, so come along and say hello.

There are lots more events coming soon.  On Sunday 25 May Jacqueline is appearing at the Family Day at the Sydney Writers’ Festival.  You can come along and hear her speak and then have morning tea with her too.

Jacqueline is touring in South Australia from Monday 26 – Saturday 31 May and will post all the event details in the next week or so and after that she’s appearing at the Abbotsleigh Literary Festival in Sydney which is open to all schools and individuals and you can book tickets here.

Anyway, have a lovely weekend.  If you’re playing sport, have a great game!

Lots of love,
Alice-Miranda xxx

PS  I wanted to share with you one of my special friends, Piper who is showing off her huge collection of Alice-Miranda and Clementine Rose books.  And finally, I need to let you know that very soon (hopefully in the next couple of weeks), there is going to be a fantastic new Jacqueline Harvey website which will have special sections for me and for Clementine Rose as well with lots of games and fun activities for you to do.

        Hi Jacqueline,
In regards to the Alice Miranda TV series, can we audition? If so, when and how?
Also, will the TV series follow the books? Will Lucinda make an appearance?
        Thank you!
        Regards,
        Ella
P.S. My fave Alice-Miranda book is Alice-Miranda Takes the Lead.

          Hi Ella,

I will definitely post any news about the television series as soon as I know anymore myself. I’ve read the first three episodes and they do follow the book quite closely – although there are plans for 26 episodes so I’m not sure exactly what will happen. I hope that Lucinda will make an appearance but that might be in the second series (if we get to do one).

I’m glad that you like Alice-Miranda Takes the Lead – I adore Miss Hephzibah – she’s as gorgeous character and I love the Fayle School too.

Keep checking back for updates about the television series.

          Best wishes,
          Jacqueline

At the moment Alice-Miranda is in script development to be made into a television series. It’s early days but very exciting and so we hope that in the not too distant future the project will have the green light and we can announce a lot more about what’s happening.

      Hi Sophie,

There are currently nine books in the Alice-Miranda series but I am working on the tenth at the moment which is called Alice-Miranda At Camp and will be out in September this year. I am writing at least another four books after that. If you email me jacqueline@jacquelineharvey.com.au you can tell me where you go to school and I’ll let you know if it’s likely I’ll be in the area any time soon.

      Hello Morgan,

I’m so glad that you’re enjoying the books. I have just finished editing Alice-Miranda at Camp yesterday and today I’m working on Clementine Rose’s 8th adventure. It won’t be out until January but that’s okay because Clementine Rose and the Treasure Box comes out in July and Clementine Rose and the Famous Friend is out in October as well as a beautiful Clemmie Busy Day Book. Alice-Miranda At Camp will be out in September along with a lovely new diary for 2015. The story I’m working on at the moment involves Clementine starting ballet lessons and there’s a bit of a disastrous concert.

Thanks again for writing. Have you signed up for the newsletter yet? Each month you get special content and competitions – you can sign up on the website.

      Hi Tennille,

I’ve just finished writing the 11th book. It’s called Alice-Miranda at the Palace. Alice-Miranda and her friends are invited to the palace for Aunty Gee’s family Silver Jubilee celebrations (which means she’s been the queen for 25 years). But there’s a problem and Aunty Gee is desperate to keep the children there after the events. It’s a bit of a spy story as there are people who don’t want Aunty Gee on the throne anymore and they are determined that her gormless son Freddy will never be king. It looks like Alice-Miranda is in great danger – but is she really? It will be out on the 1st February.

Thanks for writing – have a great term!

Thank you for your very kind words. It is a pleasure to write the books and I love that children seem to appreciate them all over the world. I was inspired to write Alice-Miranda as I was a teacher for a long time and I adored working with children at school. I also worked in two different boarding schools and wanted to write a school story. I am inspired by my travels which give me new ideas all the time and children like you who write to me. I hope that helps.

As far as I know the production company are keen to have a live action series with real people. I’m not sure when it will be made as they are just working on scripts at the moment. It usually takes about three years from the time they sign the deal to the time it is on television but I hope that it’s soon. Keep checking the blog as I will update any news here.

      Hi Isabelle,

Unlike Bonaparte, who is black and sleek and a little bit on the portly side especially when he eats too many cabbages, Chops is a little rougher around the edges. He’s more like a mountain pony. He’s brown and not really a great looker but he’s very fast when he decides to get going and he’s cute.

      Hope that helps.

    Hello Mrs Harvey,

First of all, it’s wonderful to hear that there will be a TV Series! I was wondering has the new book after Alice miranda in palace been published yet to be bought in book stores and libraries! If not, when will it be released?

    Thanks
    Joshna:)

      Hi Bianca,

Thank you for your kind words! I actually met someone from Concord West PS yesterday. I’d love to come and visit your school – you should ask your librarian to get in touch with me through the website. I hope to meet you one day too. Have a great school holiday.

      Best wishes,
      Jacqueline

Hi Jacqueline, I am your biggest fan and I was wondering if you could come to my school to sign books, and so I could meet you. My friend recently has, and I was so jealous.

      Dear Feronia,

I love visiting schools. It’s almost the end of the school year at the moment but perhaps you can ask your librarian to get in touch with my publicist or agent to arrange a visit for next year. I’d love to meet you too.

      Best wishes,
      Jacqueline

      Hi Sabrina,

This afternoon I’m hoping to write the first thousand words of the next book which will be Alice-Miranda in China! There will be at least another three after that but probably more.

      Best wishes,
      Jacqueline

      Hi Sabrina,

I don’t have a top three. There are things I love about them all and I’d be really disappointed in myself if I didn’t think that they were always getting better.

      Best wishes,
      Jacqueline

I’m so happy that you are writing more books after the fourteenth one, I was so worried that you would stop writing them! I can’t help wondering what adventures that you have planned, also I recently got the book Code Name Mr Right and wanted to know is there a second?

    Thanks, Feronia
