Newcastle Writers’ Festival

April 6, 2017 by Jacqueline Harvey 6 Comments

Last week I had the pleasure of travelling to Newcastle to take part in the School Days program of the Newcastle Writers’ Festival. We kicked off with a fabulous high tea on Tuesday afternoon and I was absolutely thrilled to meet lots of enthusiastic mums, dads, girls and boys who all enjoyed a scrumptious feast and book talk. I also saw the Clementine Rose fridge magnets for the first time and they are gorgeous!

One of the great things about going to festivals is catching with author friends you otherwise rarely see. It was great to catch up with fellow festival authors were George Ivanoff, Jack Heath, Louise Park, Michael Wagner and John Flanagan (John is missing from the photo below as he was only there for one day).  I think I saw George last in Melbourne and Jack and Michael at Somerset, John at a dinner and Louise and I have never met in person although we are friends on social media. On Wednesday I ran two workshops and Thursday was all about the large school presentations.

It was a great three days – to Julie Swane and her team of organisers, thank you for a fabulous time and to the lovely Max and Amanda from Macleans Bookshop in Hamilton, huge thankyou for your support too (and congratulations for being named Regional Bookseller of the Year!).

    Hello Mrs Harvey!
I was just reading through the blog and came across the ‘Question & Answers’ in 2015.
I would love it if you would be able to make a question & answers for 2017 because I’ve got a heap of questions I would love to be answered from the best – you 🙂
    Thank you-
    Yasmin.

That’s a great idea Yasmin – I’ll try to remember it for the next newsletter.

      Best wishes,
      Jacqueline

    Dear Jacqueline,
This is amazing news one of my BFF’s lived in Orange before she came here and I asked her if her family could give me a lift to see you. Ha Ha it was funny.
