Some fun interviews

Hi Everyone,

I have been a bit behind on my blogging of late as I’m really busy working on Alice-Miranda in the Alps (which is set for release on the 1st September in Australia).  I’ve also been doing quite a bit of touring, talking to children around Sydney, the Blue Mountains and the Illawarra areas about books and writing.  Oh and last night I had a ball being part of the Dymocks Children’s Charities Great Debate – I wasn’t one of the debaters but I had to make a speech and it was lots of fun.  Best of all the event raised lots of money to support the DCC which has amazing programs which get books into the hands of children who otherwise might not even own a book.  Although I don’t have a lot of time right now to write something longer, I thought I could share with you some interviews I’ve done – one recently and the other last year.  I really enjoy talking to people about books and characters and John and Barbara both had fantastic questions.  So, in another couple of weeks I will be able to come up for air and write some much longer blogs and also post some fantastic children’s writing here too, but in the meantime, I hope you enjoy the interviews.

Best wishes,

Jacqueline

Hi, Jacqueline.
I’m in year 7 now and I started reading them.. I think it was in year 5 or 4 or 6 and i absolutely fell in love with them. So much so that when my old school library got the new Alice-Miranda book in me and some other girls used to fight over the book. It was amazing. I have read more adult books but i always come back to good ole Alice-Miranda. I can’t wait for more stories and congratulate you on the past books. I wish you good health.

    Hi Em,
Thanks for your kind words. You’re certainly not the oldest Alice-Miranda reader – I think at my last launch one of the girls was 16. I love that you can keep coming back to the stories – it makes me so happy to know that. I’m writing lots more Alice-Miranda stories.

I wish you good health too (and a happy Easter).

    Best wishes,

      Thank you. Happy easter.

Ps. This may be a strange question but will any boys have a crush on Alice-Miranda? She is over 8 years old.

          Hi Mikayla,
That’s wonderful that you can read Alice-Miranda at five years of age. You could try Clementine Rose and her adventures as well.
Keep up the good reading and I’m sure your mother is proud of your achievements.

    Hi Ivana,

Thanks for watching – I always wonder who actually gets to see the interviews on You Tube. Now you’re asking a hard question as I’m still only midway through writing #12, Alice-Miranda in the Alps. I’m pretty sure that #13 is going to be set back at school again and it’s going to involve lots of animals but apart from that I don’t have a plan (or a title) yet.

    Have a lovely Sunday.

    Hi Sophia,
Alice-Miranda is growing slightly older each book. I haven’t really said how old she is in the latest books, but Jacinta is about to turn 13 in the latest book.

I think Alice-Miranda says she thinks she’s about 11 years of age in the first book so she’s now getting up toward 13. She’s gone to the senior school now in the latest books.

Hi Jacqueline,
Wow! Jacinta is turning 13 in Alice Miranda at the Alps! How old was she in book 1? I forget what it was but that means Alice Miranda would be around 3 or 4 years younger than her! I’m reading Alice Miranda in Paris at the moment. I am worried I will finish the series and have none to read for a while because it is not easy finding a great book that has a full giant series ready for you to read! I will have to slow down reading for now!

Happy Easter!

Hi Jacqueline,
I’ve loved all your books especially book 6 & 9 I think your a talented writer. The first time I heard about your books and how good they were I went straight to the Library and got out the first book, from the first page I was hooked! I’ve now read all 11 of your books and can’t wait for the next. I was wondering where you got you’re ideas from, especially book 9. Where did you find out about the japanese customs and language?
Happy Easter!

Hi jacqueline,

I absolutely love reading your books. especially alice miranda. You have inspired me to write or they to write a story but its coming together pretty slowly. I just looked at your blog and saw you went to of places in Australia. Maybe in the future do you think you could come to banora point in NSW. Does lucas actually like jactina or does he just do it for the sake of it? thanks happy easter and keep up your amazing writing!!!! 🙂 you rock!

April 5, 2015 at 10:34 am

    Jacqueline Harvey

    Dear Riley,
I think Lucas and Jacinta get on very well; you’ll find it blossoming more in the later books. I know where Banora Point is – just near the Queensland border. I live in Sydney but spend about 4-5 months of the touring. I’ll be visiting Brisbane later in the year for a High Tea and some school visits.
Keep up the writing – that’s how I started out.
    Best wishes,
    Jacqueline.

I love Alice-Miranda, it is my favourite series- even more than Harry Potter!
One question: in Alice-Miranda Takes the Lead, why does it say that Ashima was one of the dwarves with Susannah, but in the actual play, Ashima is Snow-White’s mother (the narrator says that she wished to have a child more than anything, and September Sykes says that she might want to wish for something less bothersome- I loved that part!)

    Hi Josefina,
Thanks again for your message. Ashima had the role as Dopey, but also the role as Snow White’s mother. It isn’t detailed in the book very well so you’ve found a very good pick-up. Well done!

Hi Jacqueline my name is Christy I am a 12 and live in Melbourne. Me and my friend Maddie love your books. We’ve been wondering where the alice Miranda and clementine rose books are set we thought it was Australia or England. Cannot wait until book numbers 12 and 8 comes out , love your work. Ps. for book 13 it would be cool if alice miranda goes to Africa.

    Hi Christy and Maddie,
Thanks for your message. I’ve never really said where the books are set. I think it’s for the reader to best imagine where they are set.
I’ve had a few suggestions for an African safari for Alice-Miranda. I’ve never been but would definitely love to go and I know Alice-Miranda could have exciting adventures there.

Hello Mrs Harvey!
My name is Alice (actually) and im very pleased to read all your Alice-Miranda books! I am 13 now and started reading the books when i was about 10 (i think?) Even though im a bit older than your usual audience the Alice Miranda books are still my favourite to recieve on birthdays and Christmas! Last week I was in Target books and that morning i was reading Alice Miranda on Camp, and was wondering when the next was going to come out when i saw it! I begged my mum to buy it and she did, but kept it hidden until we left for our holiday! I was squirming waiting to read it! I know your doing Alice MIranda in the Alps and I was wondering if you were doing anymore for her series? I would honestly read about her and Millie’s, Jacinta’s, Sloane’s, Lucas’ and Sep’s adventures unitl they were 100! If that was the case i would even read them in my 20’s! You are an amazing writer! Im sorry to make this terribly long but I heard about Alice Miranda being a TV show? If it is going to be a TV show, is it acted, or animated? I also hear Jacinta will be thirteen in the next book and I am sooooooooo excited! Jacinta is my favourite character and I love it that shes my age!!!
Again, Terribly sorry for how long this is!
Love your writing so much Mrs Harvey!

    Hi Alice,
It always makes me so pleased to hear readers still love the books even when they get a bit older. I have fans who write to me as old as 16!
At this stage there will be 14 books – but I’m confident there will be more stories that Alice-Miranda helps me write.
At the moment, Alice-Miranda has been option for TV, and look like it may be a live action series – but it’s very early stages at the moment. I’ll let everyone know what is happening through the website and newsletters. I love Jacinta; she started out to be so mean, but now has become very lovable, in her own special way.
I hope you continue to enjoy Alice-Miranda’s adventure.
    Best wishes,
    Jacqueline.

    Hi India,
Well, I considered leaving Caprice out of the next book, Alice-Miranda in the Alps, but I just couldn’t! She is just so awful, probably the worst child character I’ve written about. But I love having her in the stories. Even Alice-Miranda finds it hard to see the good in her – I wonder if Caprice will ever change. Millie and Caprice are the same age, a couple of years older than Alice-Miranda.

    Best wishes,
    Jacqueline.

Alice Miranda is one of my favourite series of books to read I am 11 (in year six) and still absolutely loving the series. I definitely think that you should keep going with it.(Every time a new book comes out I immediately go and bye It). My favourite is book number 9 a:because I love the idea of just add water and b:because I love how you described the Japanese culture. I was wondering if you have ever been to Blackheath in the Blue Mountains because if you do please visit the school there. My question is in book 12 will there be another character introduced or will it be the same people, will the school expand to year 8 and do you know where book 13 will be set?

    April 10, 2015 at 7:34 pm

      Jacqueline Harvey

      Dear Mirah,
Thanks for your comment. I found Alice-Miranda in Japan so easy to write as I’ve been to Japan a couple of times and love the people, the culture and the way of life.
I’ve been to Blackheath , and hope to return at soon. You can ask your librarian to look on my website and ask for a visit.
Book 12 is Alice-Miranda in the Alps. There’s a new girl introduced who lives in a place called Zermatt in Switzerland, and the usual baddies that Alice-Miranda and her friends encounter. Book 13 is still a way off but ideas are forming in my head and there’s always Alice-Miranda looking over my shoulder telling me what to write.

      Best wishes,
      Jacqueline.

          Hi Jessie,

I have been published since 2003. I started writing seriously about 15 years ago, hoping that I would be published but I wrote stories long before that. I think the first book I ever wrote was when I was about 18 and at University. It hasn’t been published and I think I’d probably find it embarrassing now! My full name is Jacqueline Lisa Harvey. I won a writing competition in high school for a story called Waiting, for my Life which was about finding out about a diagnosis at the doctor’s. Not long now until Alice-Miranda in the Alps comes out!

    Hi Jasmine,
It’s funny you should say that about writing – I’m having my first four day break from writing in six months. I’m just about to finish Alice-Miranda in the Alps and have taken a trip to Hamilton Island in Queensland to relax before putting together the final 4,000 words to finish off the book. I’ll then head straight in the next Alice-Miranda book (which I don’t have a title for as yet).
Thank you for your kind words about the books – I can assure you it’s a pleasure to write them.

    Best wishes,
    Jacqueline.

Dear Mrs Harvey,

I love the Alice-Miranda series and have fallen in love with your witty characters and writing style! My mum buys me so many books but I keep reading Alice-Miranda over and over!

You came to my school once two years ago, when Alice-Miranda in Paris came out, and my teacher gave you a copy of my attempts to write Alice-Miranda in 500 words! I did it on the topic Alice-Miranda in Outer Space. If it isn’t to much bother, can you please give me some feedback as i would love to know what your thoughts are on it!

As a crazy fan of Alice-Miranda I am so excited for your next book to come out! 🙂

I Love Alice-Miranda and hope the series never ends!

Rock on Mrs Harvey!

    Hi Pia,
Thanks for your comment. I’m glad you enjoy the Alice-Miranda adventures. I’m just finishing off writing Alice-Miranda in the Alps, which is released in Australia on 1 September 2015. I excited about this book as I was in Switzerland over the Christmas break in 2014 and researched much of where the action takes place in Zermatt and St Moritz and the express train that links the two ski resorts, called the Glacier Express.
I hope you enjoy the book when it comes out.

I am 14 now and own all your books! I recently bought Alice-Miranda at the palace and absolutely loved it! These books have never failed to engross me in her life! I bought the book two days ago and read it in a couple of hours is was that fantastic! If you have time please leave me a reply I would truly appreciate it

    Hi Charlotte,
Thanks for your comment. It makes all the hard work of writing books worth while when I read comments like this. I’m just writing the last 4,000 words to Alice-Miranda in the Alps and very happy with the story. I hope you enjoy this one as much – there’s some nasty baddies and Caprice makes a return – much to Millie’s horror!

    Best wishes,
    Jacqueline.

Hi Mrs Harvey,

I love your Alice Miranda books, they are amazing! My favourite book is Alice Miranda Takes the Lead, It’s got a detailed plot and I enjoy the storyline with all the characters. I also like the book because you introduce a new character, Solane, I love it when you introduce a new character because it’s always so exciting and it makes the story more interesting whether the character is annoying, mean, self centred, or nice.
I am so excited for Alice Miranda in the Alps to come because I can’t wait to read the adventures Alice Miranda has been up to!
I also like your Clementine Rose books. (I just started reading them, and so far they have been amazing)
Out of curiosity what are your plans for your next story after Alice Miranda in the Alps? and also what are you going to do after your 14 books? and also what is your most favourite Alice Miranda book you have written so far?

From,

Michka

    Jacqueline Harvey

    Hi Michka,

I’m so pleased that you’re enjoying the stories. I think after AM in the Alps she will go back to school for another adventure there (I’m thinking it might involve quite a lot of animals actually) and after that I’m not too sure. I secretly hope that Alice-Miranda will go on forever as I can’t imagine leaving my little girl behind to start anything new at the moment (although I have a few ideas bubbling around in my head). I don’t have a favourite book – I always hope that the one I’m writing is better than the one before – and I love the characters so much, even the baddies because they are lots of fun to write. I’m glad that you can relate to Jacinta. While she was a bit of a handful for a while I love that she’s really mellowed and is such a great girl these days.

Hope you’re having a good holiday.

    Best wishes,
    Jacqueline

Hi Jacqueline,

How is Alice-Miranda in the Alps doing? Could you please come to Canberra? Will Aunty Gee and the twins be in Book 12? I think it’s great you introduced Caprice to the Alice-Miranda books because it gives a spice to the story. Will we see characters from past books? Maybe in one of your later books there could be a party and people like Lucinda would be there.

From,

Evie

    Hi Nickola

Thanks for your kind words and for choosing to talk about my books for your project. One of the things that I love most about being an author is meeting amazing children who inspire me to write. There’s a little bit of lots of the children who I have taught and spoken with over the years, in the characters in the stories. I also adore travelling, and, you may have noticed, many of Alice-Miranda’s adventures are set in wonderful places such as Paris, Japan, Sintra and Switzerland- there’s so much of the world to see and visiting interesting places inspires me also.

Good luck with your project and enjoy Book Week

Dear Ms Harvey,

I started reading the Alice Miranda books when I was in Year 5, I’m now going into year 9 and I still read about every single one of Alice Miranda’s adventures. I just wanted to write and say that I love your books, you are so clever! I love the character of Alice Miranda and I always try to model myself on her!

Hello Jacqueline Harvey,
I LOVE the books Alice-Miranda. My favourite is Alice-Miranda in Japan. I remember when you came to my school in 2014 that’s when I started reading them and so far I have read all of them! ( I read Alice-Miranda shows the way in one night!) When is Alice-Miranda’s Birthday? Can you make Lucas propose to Jacinta?
Can someone die? Thanks for reading this. You are an amazing author!:)

    Hi Isabelle,

Thanks for writing – I love your enthusiasm! How wonderful that you’ve read all of the books and one of them in a night. I have never disclosed Alice-Miranda’s birthday – maybe it’s the same date as yours. I think Lucas should definitely propose to Jacinta but maybe when they are a lot older! Is there anyone in particular that you’d like me to kill off? I’ve never had anyone ask that before. I’m writing lots more adventures so there is plenty of scope for fantastic adventures to come.

    Best wishes,

    Hi MM,

There are lots of little instances of romance with Jacinta and Lucas. Alice-Miranda in Paris, Alice-Miranda On Camp and especially Alice-Miranda at the Palace and Alice-Miranda in the Alps. I love them – they are so sweet.

OMG I have really enjoyed reading the Alice Miranda Series and over the couple of weeks, I’ve got into Clementine Rose. May I ask 1 question, what gave you the idea of writing about a school? I look up to as a great role model!

I wrote about school because a) I loved school – well after I moved schools in the middle of Year 4, I loved it after that and b) I was a teacher for a long time and I adored working in schools.

    Thanks for your kind words.

    Hi Riley,

I’m so pleased that you’re enjoying the books and yes, there will be a new Alice-Miranda book in February next year. It’s called Alice-Miranda to the Rescue. Jacinta and Lucas are the cutest aren’t they. I’m not sure where it’s all heading but I think Jacinta might be up for a pretty big adventure soon.

Hi, just wanted to say that I absolutely adore the Alice-Miranda books. I started reading the series when the first book came out, all the way back when I was in Year 6 – I’m now 17 years old and still looking forward to the day when a new Alice-Miranda book is published (I have just finished Alice-Miranda in the Alps, and I loved it)! Thank you so much for creating these extraordinary characters that have accompanied me throughout the years. I have to say that the books are a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine, especially when I get tired of reading textbooks all day!

    Hi Tina,

Your message really made my day! I love that Alice-Miranda is your ‘guilty pleasure’ and that even though you’re 17, you haven’t given her up. I can’t tell you how flattering that is for me. You must be just about finished school – all the best with it and if the text books are getting you down, there will be two new Alice-Miranda books out this year. I’m also starting a new series which will come out in 2017. I can’t say too much but I think readers of Alice-Miranda will really enjoy it.

Hi Ms. Harvey,
You probably wouldn’t remember me, but I wrote to you a few months ago (I think) about how I wanted to become and author, and am in Yr 10.
I really appreciate that you replied. You’re a great inspiration.
Also, I was just wondering if you could create a character table or something showing all the characters and their current ages (as I often have to go back to old books to find them).

Thanks heaps and keep up the good work!

    Hi Rebekah,

I actually have a massive Excel spreadsheet with all the character names but we’re adding to it all the time and it’s so huge, it’s not something I would publish anywhere – but I do like the idea of something on a smaller scale – I’ll see what we can do but I’m just so busy editing and writing at the moment, it might take a while. Keep up your writing.

I love the Alice Miranda series because Alice Miranda and Millie are very kindhearted and they are always willing to help their family’s, friends and more!
My favourite character is Millie because she is very nice to Alice Miranda.
This year for our school’s Book Week I am going to dress up as Millie.
What would you think Millie would like to wear?
I wish you luck in your upcoming stories about Alice Miranda and her friends.

I love Alice-Miranda’s and Millie’s friendship too – they are so great together. Millie is very down to earth and Alice-Miranda’s kindness always comes through. I think Millie is a pretty down to earth dresser too – you could wear riding clothes if you have them or jeans and something casual. I’m going to run a competition in the August newsletter so make sure that you enter. I look forward to seeing your outfit.

Thank you for your kind words about the books – I love writing the stories.

Hi Jacqueline Harvey!!
I’ve been reading the Alice-Miranda Series since grade 4 and I’m in grade 6 right now! I’ve just read Alice-Miranda in China! It was an amazing adventure with the ancient chicken cups:). I noticed something weird in the book and wanted to ask you about it. Is Lucas’s last name ‘Ridley’ or ‘Nixon’ because he was called both in the book and it has got me confused:(.
Thank you for your time Ms Harvey.

-L.L

P.S: I totally ship Lacinta/Jucas !! They’re so cute together!! How old is Lucas btw? Jacinta is 12 in the latest book:).

Hi LL – thank you for bringing that little blooper to my attention. Lucas’s name is Nixon but his father is Lawrence Ridley. I must have mixed it up (although he technically could call himself Ridley if he wanted to). I’ll talk to my editor about it. Lucas is just a little bit older than Jacinta.

I’m so glad you enjoyed the book.

I am 11, so a bit older than most Alice-Miranda readers.I read a lot of older books but I always love rreturning back to Alice-Miranda! Some of my friends think it’s strange I still read the books, but it didn’t stop a few of them dressing up as Alice-Miranda on Book Week! I have just finished reading Alice-Miranda in China, will there be another book?

    Hi Jess,

Thanks for your lovely message and would you believe, you’re not the oldest Alice-Miranda fan by a long way. I still have girls well into their teens who write to me and say that they are still reading the books. Yes there is a new book coming in February called Alice-Miranda Holds the Key and it’s set at her home, Highton Hall and as with all of the other books there is a big mystery or two. We are having fabulous garden parties around Australia to launch the book in the end of January just before school goes back. I’m then going to write a story set in Hollywood!

Have a lovely Christmas and I hope you keep reading Alice-Miranda for a while to come.

Dear Mrs Harvey,
My name is Kevinya and I met you at the book launch for Alice- Miranda holds the key in Melbourn. I came with my father for a birthday present and bought the book which I finished in one night on the train! I love Chessie’s personality and was wondering if she would make an appearance in the next book since she is joining the school. Also what where Alice-Miranda and Millie talking about when Mrs Grimm had eaten to many doughnuts and what was the interesting news? As well as that will Caprice and Millie fight some more? I have read all the books in both series and I put Wedding Wobbles on order. When will the next newsletter be out?

I remember meeting you at the garden party and that you had a very long train trip to get home. Yes, Chessie is going to be in the next book and the news at the end is that Miss Grimm is having a baby! There will be some surprise with Caprice and Millie in the next book – I”m working on it now and have a very short amount of time to get it finished.

You should have received your newsletter yesterday. I hope you enjoy Wedding Wobbles too.

Dear Jacqueline ,
I have just started reading Alice Miranda at the palace after finishing Alice Miranda in japan and Alice Miranda at camp in 4 days! I am already up to Chapter 2.
I think Marcus and Imogen are lovely names for Charlotte’s twins. Talking about twins I have a twin named Anna. I think the prologue for the 11th book is very mysterious and I am scared that the man driving the black car was talking about Alice Miranda. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see.
I have just seen how you have released the 15th book Alice Miranda holds the key! I can’t wait to read it because all your books are very lovely but at the same time quite mysterious.
I hope you are having fun while you are planning , writing and publishing all of your wonderful books.
I am very very very excited to read your upcoming Alice Miranda books.

Thanks Sophie. I’m currently contracted to write up to 18 Alice-Miranda books so there are more after AM in Hollywood. I can’t imagine stopping so I think at least 20 but who knows!

I’m alternating the writing at the moment – currently working on the draft of AM Hollywood and as soon as I finish it (due in 2 weeks!) I will go back and write the last 10,000 words of Kensy and Max.

It’s kind of interesting being in the heads of so many different characters but I love it.

    Hi Sophie,

No need to apologise for the questions. One of the great things about being an author in the 21st century is that readers can easily get in touch – unlike when I was a little girl and you would have had to write a letter and hope that it eventually got to them. It sounds like you’ve travelled a lot for someone so young. I didn’t go anywhere overseas until I was 24 but things seem to have changed these days :).

    I live in Sydney.
I have been to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Bali, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, China, Dubai, Qatar, England, Wales, Scotland, Germany, Italy, France, Portugal, Switzerland, Austria and America.I think that’s it but I could have missed one or two. There are so many places I still want to travel to.

    Best wishes,

Dear Jacqueline ,
WOW ! That’s amazing , I always thought I had traveled a lot compared to others but you and Alice Miranda have basically been everywhere ! Thank you for always replying to my messages. It really makes me happy when you reply.
I got really angry when I read that Caprice called queen Georgiana Aunte Gee!
Millie deserves some kindness from Caprice because in the books 10 and 11 she is always pretending Millie did something wrong to her.
I think your books are great though!

    Hi Sophie,

I hope that you enjoy Alice-Miranda in China. There are lots of twists and turns; and I have introduced some characters who have kept me laughing. Alice-Miranda in Hollywood is at the editing stage- it’s a busy and exciting stage, as, amongst other things, we see the amazing illustrations of Anne Yi. Check out the front cover on the Penguin Random House website https://penguin.com.au/books/alice-miranda-in-hollywood-9780143780618.

The actual writing involved in an Alice-Miranda story can take up to a few months- as an example, I started researching Alice-Miranda in Hollywood during my Christmas trip to America last year. The book will be published in September 2017.

Never say never, but, I am enjoying the characters, the relationships and have lots of ideas swirling around in my head. I am sure that you will read about Alice-Miranda and her friends’ adventures for some time:).

    Hi Sophie,

At this stage, we are hoping that the series ( which is now ‘in development’) will be appearing on Channel 9.

Details of the Alice-Miranda in Hollywood launch have not been finalised as yet- however, we have many exciting ideas. Please keep an eye on the website for details, which we will be post as soon as they are confirmed.

    Hi Sophie,

Alice-Miranda in Hollywood will be officially released on 1 September; however, I suspect there will be books available at book shops before that:). I hope that you enjoy reading it.

I honestly couldn’t choose a favourite character- I love them all for different reasons!

Hi Jacqueline ,
I’ve decided to dress up as Imogen for our school’s book week parade!
I dressed up as Millie last year.
Is there a new character in Alice-Miranda in Hollywood??????
I saw the front cover on the internet and it looks incredible!

Hi Jacqueline ,
If you didn’t know I do ballet. There is a particular type of solo where you have to act and dance as a character from a book. My friends are dancing as Tinkerbell and Pippy Longstockings! I’m dancing as Alice-Miranda. My teacher asked me to do a solo about her.

    Hi Sophie,

My niece does ballet and she competes in the section called Demi-Character which sounds like what you do. I love that you are doing a dance as Alice-Miranda – are you able to send some photos? It sounds amazing! I hope it goes really well for you.

    Best wishes,

Thanks Jaqueline!

I might not be able to send you some photos yet because the eisteddfod is next year!!!
That’s exactly what I’m going to be doing. I will be competing in the novice under 10’s demi-character solo section. I will be performing book 8 , Alice-Miranda shines bright!

Today Mum surprised me by buying me Alice-Miranda in Holly-Wood from Dymocks! She said it was lucky that she got it today because normally it would be $16.99 but today it was $13.59!

Do you have any upcoming events in Melbourne? My older siblings go to university there which means we go to Melbourne ALOT! I would love to meet you in person?

Do you have any ideas for book 17? I actually have 3!!!
1. Alice-Miranda at the prom
2. Alice-Miranda in Africa
3. Alice-Miranda and the new teacher

    Hi Sophie.

Thank you for the compliment- I will just have to be patient, won’t I:)?

How lovely for your Mum to surprise you by getting Alice-Miranda in Hollywood so quickly. I hope that you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it- there are some hilarious new characters who have kept me giggling.

There are a couple of great events in Melbourne during the upcoming school holidays- especially an exciting premiere launch event at Backlot Studios in Southbank. Check out https://jacquelineharvey.com.au/upcoming-events/. You need to book and best to get in quickly, if your Mum and Dad say that you are able to come along.

I have a few ideas for Book 17 (although Kensy and Max is front and centre in my mind at the moment)- it’s a little bit exciting, as I suspect that many old favourites will make an appearance. Thank you for your suggestions; it is simply humbling that fans are so invested and interested in the stories.

Happy last few days of term!

    Best wishes,

    Jacqueline

Hello Jacqueline,

I just ADORE the Alice-Miranda books they are AMAZING and Alice-Miranda is so kind and sees the good in everyone. Also, I still can’t believe Alice-Miranda found Alethea Goldsworthy at Kimmel’s school for girls and hopefully in the future(because I haven’t read the other books)Alethea and Alice-Miranda become friends like Sloane and Alice-Miranda. And even though it only read the first five and finished the 5th one this morning I can’t wait to read the rest! 😉

Zoe

hello,

I really like your books and I completely ship Lucas and Jacinta but I feel like their relationship is a bit boring like there should be more drama. For exampleJacinta could flirt with another guy to make him jealous

also, do you know when the television series is coming out

Thanks, Zoe

    Hi Zoe,

I have been thinking a lot about what you said and I have some ideas for AM Scotland. The television series is waiting for the green light so I’m not sure but fingers crossed that it will be soon. Television is tricky like that.

Brigette

Hi there,
I just want to tell you that the Alice-Miranda series is one of my favourites! Even though I’ll be sixteen in a few weeks i love re-reading the series whenever I can. I have a question about which country the series is set in?
My cousin attends boarding school in Sydney at Abbotsleigh as a boarder which i think is pretty cool.

    Hi Brigette,

Thank you for your kind words! I can tell you that you’re not the oldest Alice-Miranda fan – I have quite a lot of girls who write to tell me that they are in later high school or even finished school and they still enjoy the books. It’s incredibly humbling to know that. I have never actually said where AM lives. It could be England or perhaps the Southern Highlands in Australia (but I suppose in my head I think of it as England or a country very like that). I hope your cousin is enjoying Abbotsleigh. I used to be the Deputy Head of the Junior School there and then the Director of Development. I worked there for almost 12 years and left at the end of 2012 to become a full time writer.

    Best wishes,
    Jacqueline

Hi there,
Not sure if you remember me, but it’s Sophie. I am so excited for you to release another AM book and I read one of the comments and it said you were releasing one in June. That makes me so happy because my birthday is on June 12th. Do you know the exact date? Maybe I could receive it for my birthday!!!??? ( fingers crossed:) I read the 16th book really quickly so I have been missing Alice-Miranda for some time.

I love all your books and can’t wait until you release more!!!

Hi Ms Harvey,
My name is Cherryl, I’m 11 years old from Sydney.
I just finished reading Alice-Miranda in Scotland. It was so good! Lucas and Jacinta are so good together and Neville gets to know and like Alice-Miranda a lot more. When will Alice-Miranda’s next adventure be out and what will it be?

    Jacqueline Harvey

    Hi Cheryl,

Thank you for your lovely message. I’m so glad that you enjoyed the story. I haven’t exactly decided about the next book yet as I’ve been busy with Kensy and Max’s second adventure and am now working on a Clementine Rose book but it will be out next year in June and I think it will be set back at school and in the village but with some really great new characters. I’ll definitely post about it once I have more time to get things sorted out.

    Best wishes,

Sara Joji

Hello Mrs.Harvey!
I’m Sara, a BIG fan of yours! I really love reading the Alice Miranda series! It’s such a great series! I have one question for you. Will there be more Alice Miranda books after book 18? I would love there to be more books in this series. I hope this is not going to make you worried or anything about making new books. But I really want to say that you are a talented writer, and your books are really great! 🙂
Thanks a lot! 😉

Yes I will write at least up to 20 and who knows after that. Thank you for your kind words – it makes me so happy to know that all my hard work means something to others as well as just to me.

Jenny

Hi Jacqueline,

My name is Jenny and I just started Middle School. I think Lucas and Jacinta are the cutest. I am dying to know what will happen between them; I am currently in the middle of reading, Alice Miranda in Hollywood. I was wondering if you could give me some hints about Lucas and Jacinta’s future, also including Caprice and what happens to her.

Thanks, Jenny

    Jacqueline Harvey

    Hi Jenny,

Yes Lucas and Jacinta are the cutest. They have an interesting time in Alice-Miranda in Scotland and then again in Keeps the Beat. There are ups and downs but generally I think they are on a good path. Lots of kids ask me if they’re going to get married one day! Who knows but that would make for an interesting read. Caprice is a complicated soul but you might see some improvements in her soon.

    Best wishes,
    Jacqueline

Omg if Lucas and Jacinta got married- imagine if Lucas remembered from that school trip to Paris that Jacinta had mentioned she wanted to be proposed to under the Eiffel Tower and he did just that! That would be so cute! :)))))))

I would love to see write about where the characters from the Alice-Miranda series are when they are all grown up as they have a special place in my heart from when they first appeared in books at a young age!

Jessie

Hi Jacqueline,
I’m 12 almost 13 and I love your books. This is just a suggestion but could you write a book about Alice-Miranda in Norway? There has been so much talk about it in Alice-Miranda in Scotland and keeps the beat. My favourite characters are Lucas and Jacinta because they are so cute but I hope Lucas doesn’t move away. It would be heart breaking. after Alice-Miranda in Scotland i thought that maybe caprice would change for the better but i suppose that is too hard for her! I think your books are amazing and it makes me feel as if they are real!
