April 20, 2020 by Jacqueline Harvey 29 Comments

The Victorian Premier’s Reading Challenge is still going ahead for 2020. While we’re spending more time at home, there’s never been a better time to get lost in a good book!

You can keep reading at home by:

📚reading and re-reading favourite books from your own home collection
📚borrowing ebooks from your local library
📚finding videos online of children’s books being read aloud
📚asking your local bookshop if they are offering a home delivery service.

You can still use the Premier’s Reading Challenge registration software application from home. Click the LINK HERE to take you to the official Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge page.

    Hi Jacqueline,

I had just have three quick questions that I have been dying to know for a while now–

    1. Was the romance between Lucas and Jacinta intended right from the moment you introduced Lucas in book two or was it something that you decided would work somewhere along the way?

    2. On average, how many words is an Alice Miranda book? Not an exact amount but a rough number?

    3. How long does it take you to write an Alice Miranda book?

    Thanks,
    Lexi

One of my favourite parts of the Alice Miranda series is the romance between Jacinta and Lucas. I also really want to know what happens with Millie and Sascha and how in Alice Miranda in Scotland Alice Miranda thought to herself how she might like to hold Neville’s hand.

‘Lucinta’ is a very cute romance, I agree!

      Hi Lexi,

Yes I thought about having a romance between Jacinta and Lucas right from the start. The average word count is probably about 64,000. It takes me about 6 weeks to 2 months to write the draft then another couple of months to get all the editing done.

      Best wishes,
      Jacqueline

I have already read all the books in my house and I really wish that I could go to a library right now- I have to satisfy myself by reading and re-reading my Kensy and Max books.

      Hi Aurora,

You’ll get to see her aunt in the next movie as Charlotte is most definitely part of the cast. She’s super stylish.

Alice-Miranda loves meeting new people and I’ll certainly keep it in mind for the next book.

      Best wishes,
      Jacqueline

    Hello
I have one question that I don’t think it answers in Alice-Miranda. Where does she live, because she goes to so many different places it never tells you where she lives though. Also can you make a book where Alice Miranda goes to Australia. If not New-Zealand I enjoyed the experience of going there myself and I hope she can too. Where do you live, I would love to know.
    Thank you!

      Hi Paige,

I have always left where Alice-Miranda lives up to the reader’s imagination 🙂

      I live in Sydney, Australia.

      Happy reading,

      Jacqueline

    Hi,
I can’t wait until the sixth Kensy and Max book comes out. I’ve got the whole collection (so far) and I ABSOLUTELY love your books! I recently found your Alice-Miranda series in the school library, and now I am quite into it! I really like Book 1, and I have also read (though have a faint recollection) of Alice-Miranda in New York! One of my favourite parts is when Alice-Miranda meets Alethea again at her school. I also have a few questions about how you’re books tie together:

    1. Does all your books occur in the same universe?
    2. Is it pure coincidence that in Book 11, one of them mentions the “Beacon” meaning Kensy’s and Max’s grandmother’s newspaper company?
    3. And did you always wanted to tie them in?

    Please answer
    Thanks for reading!

      Hi Olivia,

I hope you enjoy reading Kensy and Max 6: Full Speed when it comes out in September this year 🙂

No, they are not all in the same universe – Alice-Miranda and Clementine Rose are in the same universe but Kensy and Max stands on its own.

It’s very interesting that you noticed that! It was a pure coincidence that The Beacon was mentioned!

      Best wishes,

      Jacqueline

    Hello Ms Harvey,
I have all the Kenny and Max books and I am waiting for number 7 to come out. I have great fun guessing where the next book will be based. I am also trying to write a book somewhat like Kenya and Max, but not too much.

      Hi Thomas,

I’m so pleased that you’re enjoying the stories. I think I’ve mentioned where Book 7 is set but I’m not sure about the 8th one. Good luck writing your story.

      Best wishes,
      Jacqueline

Perhaps you could write a story where a country’s leader gets kidnapped, and Kensy and Max are holidaying right next to the culprit! By the way, this is the same Thomas as the one who wrote to you on the 4th of January.
