What do some of your favourite characters look like?

July 6, 2017 by Jacqueline Harvey 73 Comments

A number of fans have written lately wondering about pictures or illustrations of some of their favourite Alice-Miranda characters. Now, I don’t draw any of the pictures because if I did, Alice-Miranda would probably look more like the terrible drawing immediately below…(yes that was done by yours truly – kind of  as a joke for the Great Debate but in all seriousness, my artistic talent is somewhat lacking!)

Thank goodness my publisher found the most brilliant illustrator, Anne Yi – and she took my descriptions and turned Alice-Miranda into this, below!

Anne draws all of the illustrations for Alice-Miranda and Clementine Rose. Here are some other characters from Alice-Miranda. Perhaps you could help and draw a couple more for me – make sure that you’re signed up for the newsletter as this month’s competition is to draw some characters from the stories (which haven’t been drawn before). I wonder what you think they look like!

    Dear Ms Harvey,

I am super excited that there is a drawing competition this month. I love drawing aspecially characters from books and movies. You and Alice-Miranda are two of my greatest inspirations to keep persisting on with anything I do.

P.S I was just wondering if the drawings of the characters have to be all on one page.

    Thankyou,

    Hello Jacqueline,

I just want to let you know that the Alice-Miranda series is a truly wonderful and pleasureable series to read. I absolutly love hearing about her two delightful little cousions, Marcus and Imogen and I was wandering are they are in Alice-Miranda in Hollywood? Whenever I read about them, I just want to be there with them! I was also wandering where does Alice-Miranda get her chocolate brown curls from because her mother is blonde and her father is a brunette as well but neither of them have curls. I always feel so inspired whenever I read your books. You are a wonderful author.

    From Melissa.

Thank you for your enthusiasm and kind words, Melissa!

Marcus and Imogen certainly make more than a cameo appearance in Alice-Miranda in Hollywood. They are getting to an entertaining age and Alice-Miranda and her friends have enjoyed time with them. Hope you do, too:).

Alice-Miranda’s curls come from her father, Hugh’s side of the family.

      Jacqueline

    Hi Mrs. Harvey!

I simply just love your books and the pictures are fantastic! At my school, I have several friends who told me that I’m exactly like Alice-Miranda. I don’t have curly hair but they say my personality is like her. I talk a lot, I always ask questions, I’m observant with things and I make problems much, much easier. You are always my fan and you make me inspired by helping me write more better. I always wanted to be an author and currently, I’m writing a story for a competition. The competition is to write a narrative, exposition or recount to enter the Melbourne’s Writer’s Festival and your books helped me.

Thank you so much for those books!

I’m so thrilled that the stories have inspired you to write as well and I hope that your entry does well in the Melbourne Writers’ Festival competition. I won’t be there this year but some of my friends, Belinda Murrell and Alex Miles are going to be doing events so perhaps you will get to meet them.

I think it’s because Lawrence and Lucas had character drawings long before sep and Hugh had them- we saw what Lucas and Lawrence looked like in book 2, which was out in 2010-2011, whereas Hugh didn’t get a profile illustration until book 15- sep didn’t make an appearance till this post.

you can also look at the AM movie if you want to get a more updated idea on what they look like- some details have changed though

hope that clears the confusion ❤️
