Would you like me to read you a story?

April 22, 2020 by Jacqueline Harvey 69 Comments

This year I am thrilled to be an Ambassador for Australia Reads. There will be some exciting news in the coming weeks but in the meantime, I have recorded two videos for them – reading the first couple of chapters of Clementine Rose and the Best News Yet and Kensy and Max: Breaking News. If you’d like to take a listen then just click on the book covers below. There are other readings too – so take a seat and tune in.

Enjoy and stay safe everyone,

Jacqueline x

Hi Jacqueline, it’s me Stella the girl who was in the zoom meeting last Friday.
    I have a question.
Would you be able to do a picture of Curtis pepper in real life and one of him cartoon version on the website like maybe if there’s a girl who looks like one of the Alice-Miranda characters or clementine rose. Their doppelgängers. That would be awesome please can you do it.

Hey Jacqueline, I was wondering if maybe you could do a book where Kensy and Max or Alice Miranda could go to New Zealand or yeah.
Also, you know how Dominic Spencer and Cordelia’s parents got killed, right? Well since Anna, Edward, Fitz, Hector and Marisol returned from the dead, maybe Dominic or Cordelia’s parents, are ALIVE!
Just some things to think about.
I love the Kensy and Max stories so far and I can not wait for the next one.

That does sound interesting, but I think that Cordelia’s parents would be really old by now, and maybe, the other deaths were not faked and they really happened. That does sound very interesting though.
I also love the Kensy and Max series and I can not wait for the next one either.

Yeah, well, what about Dominic? they might be alive.
Also, what if Anna had siblings? that was never really come across, or what ever happened to Fitz’s father? Mim is his mum, but they have never talked about Fitz’s Dad.
They are just ideas, but you never know.
I LOVE Kensy and Max stories. Knowing me, I probably will order the book a month or two before it is due to come out.

    Hi Mrs Harvey!
I really enjoy reading your books. They are very interesting and I thought of an idea for an Alice-Miranda book – Alice-Miranda on the Track.

It is quite a broad topic. For instance, it could be a book to do with sports or athletics. Or maybe the ‘track’ is a special track in history or perhaps it is a track of clues or prints. Maybe Alice-Miranda goes to the Olympics! Just some ideas :).

    Hey Mrs. Harvey!

completely unnecessary and you probably don’t need this, but here’s my ideas for future books in your series! –just to get you on a chain of thoughts, because in a comment above you mentioned you didn’t know what you would base your next AM book on 🙂

for Alice-Miranda, i really put a lot of thought into what may work and complement the main characters and their usual style of adventures. Often times you have Alice-miranda going to exotic locations, so there could be a conspiracy somewhere in Canada, where the atmosphere is friendly and differs from the Swiss alps (snow!) in it’s beautiful cabins, forests and the interesting factor of sharing a border with the United States. On a different side of the world, you could do something with germany, Spain, Italy and turkey! some rich history and a hidden world of criminal minds always works.

for Kensy and Max (I’ve only read the first one, whereas I have already finished the AMs out so far) I touched upon some different parts of the world known for wars and spy activity. The first place they could venture to is Russia. Oh my goodness, the amount of things you can do with Russia- there is so much going on there all the time, and you don’t have to travel there to know that! the next thing you could do for both series, actually- is Egypt. pyramids are practically a hub for criminals stealing ornaments, making maps, etc. you could throw in some counterfeit goods and there’s a story! the last two places I would suggest are India, Pakistan (either one of the two, the dynamic would factor in anyways) and the Middle East! I come from a muslim family, not very religious in dressing and conservative views but we definitely have god rooted in our hearts! I have been to Saudi Arabia around 12 times now, including the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah, which are completely off limits to non muslims. it might strike some controversy if you do Saudi Arabia, but the people over there are very different to what you see on the media! they’re actually the most respectful and generous people I have ever met. the oppression of women you see on the media is not true! It’s just some laws that need edits here and there. women just don’t interact much with men outside of family, but if it’s only women in the particular house or indoor space you’re in then they can even wear hoodies and shorts! it’s a dual society thing- western societies are unisex societies. But you can otherwise do Dubai, which is full of the most interesting places ever.

all this coming from a traveller! I’ve been to most of the places I mentioned above. Hope you’re doing well during quarantine!

jess (not my real name, obviously)

    Hi Jaqueline,

I absolutely LOVE the Alice-Miranda series! It is so so so good and interesting and I love reading it!! My favorite part is when the whole squad (Alice-Miranda, Millie, Jacinta, Sloane, Caprice, Sep, Lucas) are together! I also really love the Lucinta ship, they are so cute! Those cute moments really add so much to the book. I was wondering if you could make a book called Alice-Miranda in India. Maybe it could be something about the choir performing in India for a prestigious music festival! Just for fun, maybe you could make there be a cute Indian boy so Lucas gets jealous that Jacinta likes someone else rather than the opposite most of the time lol! Just an idea! I really really love this series so much, please don’t make Lucas move away!!!!

I just go the book I won yesterday Jacqueline Harvey! I spent ages decode the chapter names!!! Thanks so much. This is just my opinion, I really liked how kensy said “I love you Curtis Pepper!” That was so cute, I think that they would make a really cute couple considering how much time they spent in free fall just the two of them!! I would love to see something between them! But that’s just my opinion I’m sure you’ve got something under your sleeve. I also think max does have a crush on autumn!!! When kensy was saying something about it in free fall he just said “NO I DONT!!!” But if he really didn’t like her he would of been calm and said ” I don’t have a crush on her.”
      That just my opinion.
