Would you like to enrol at Winchesterfield-Downsfordvale?

Hello Friends,

I am so excited that the new Alice-Miranda diary for 2014 will be in the shops in less than two weeks.  One of the fun activities inside is being able to enrol at my school, choose a house and nominate which friends you’d like to share a room with.  There’s lots of fun detail on the form.  Now you don’t have to send it in if you don’t want to but if you do, my best grown up friend, Jacqueline Harvey is going to collate all the forms that are emailed to her and put my new friends into classes.  She’s good at that sort of thing because she was a Deputy Headmistress for a long time.

So, look out for the form online here and on Jacqueline Harvey’s website in the next couple of weeks or if you get a diary first, you can photocopy the page once you’ve filled it in and email it to Jacqueline Harvey at Jacqueline@jacquelineharvey.com.au

I can’t wait to see how many new friends sign up for school next year.

This week is exciting too as I’m visiting lots of schools for Australian Book Week.  Tomorrow it’s Warrawee, then PLC, the Loreto Kirribilli and Our Lady of Good Counsel at Forestville.  After that we’re off to Melbourne for the Writers’ Festival.  I think there are still some spots left for the school days activities.  You can see the link here.  http://tickets.mwf.com.au/session2_mwf.asp?s=392

My new book, Alice-Miranda Shines Bright is out in a couple of weeks too and we’re having a giant launch party at The Children’s Bookshop in Beecroft on Saturday 31 August at 1pm.  It’s a combined party with Clementine Rose and there will be lots of lovely baby farm animals there for you to hold.  The event is free but you need to book so Mr Macdonald can make sure there’s enough room for everyone.  You can do that here http://www.thechildrensbookshop.indies.com.au/StoreEvent.aspx  It’s just after the Paul Jennings event.

Happy Book Week everyone – oh and if you dress up as a character from any of the Alice-Miranda or Clementine Rose books, please email me and send a photo as I can add you to a special blog post about the week.

Lots of love,
Alice-Miranda xx

Can you still download the enrollment form for Winchester-field Downsfordvale? I know it is a year too late to be put on a class list but I would still like to fill out the form!

    Hi Olivia,

I’m sorry but the enrollment form isn’t working now. I’m trying to get the person who looks after the website to get it fixed – but I don’t know how long that will take. I’ll put something int he newsletter if it comes up again.

    Best wishes,
    Jacqueline.

    Hi Lara,

Alice-Miranda’s boarding school is part of the story but it isn’t based on a real school. I have visited lots of schools like it though. I think it would be an amazing school to go to.

    Best wishes,
    Jacqueline

Is the enrolment form to go to a real school?

    Hi Amber,

Sadly not. Alice-Miranda’s school would be the most fun school in the world I think, but it only exists in our imaginations – but I have been to schools a lot like it and taught in a few too.

    Best wishes,
    Jacqueline

    Hi Georgia,

I would love that but I don’t think I have anywhere near enough money! I’ve visited lots of schools that remind me of Alice-Miranda’s. Some of my favourites are The Royal Masonic School for Girls Cadogan House and another called Edge Grove. Both are north of London. I used to work at a little school called Gib Gate which was the junior school of Frensham which reminds me a lot of AM’s school too.

    Best wishes,

Hi Jacqueline,

What are some boarding schools in Sydney Australia? Also do you know any schools with horses? I love all your books!

    Hi May,

There are lots of great boarding schools in Australia but the ones I know personally are Frensham in Mittagong (they have an equestrian team) and Abbotsleigh in Sydney. I worked at both of them though I worked at the Frensham Junior School which is called Gib Gate. There is another school in Armidale called NEGGS which has a fantastic horse program and the most amazing facilities. I know there is a school in QLD where you can take your horse to school too but I can’t remember the name right at the moment.

    Best wishes,

    Hi Jayde,

I worked in one school for ten years then had a year of casual teaching in about six different schools then I worked in another school for 11 and a half years.

Hi Jacqueline,
My brother recently got into a VERY prestigious high school and whilst I am happy for him (he’s in the support unit), I couldn’t help wondering if I’d go there. My mother and I missed the selective test date, so I’m going to go to a high school which, um, kind of ruined its rep because of a sex scandal.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE could you give me some high schools I could look at?! I am DESPERATE not to go there.

An uttermost frantic fan!

P.S. I absolutely ADORE your books!
I have read ALL your books!

    Hi Abigail,

It’s difficult to recommend any schools when I am not sure where you are. Perhaps if you could tell me which city you live in and roughly where I can give you some ideas.

Best wishes (and thank you for the kind words about my books),
    Jacqueline
